Wanted to necro this for a good reason.
Today the world of swimming lost one of the true greats.
Linda Kaiser succumbed to her long battle with cancer this morning.

As someone who grew up as a surfer, swimmer and diver, in treacherous ocean conditions, meeting Linda and discovering what she was capable of left me totally humbled and bewildered.

No longer did I think of myself as someone on "the far right of the curve".
This little lady wouldn't even be warmed up with my "long swims" of a scant 3 miles!

She is the only woman and only the second person to swim all 9 Hawai'ian channels, the longest one of which is a shocking 72 miles!
The Strait of Dover is only 20.
The Kaieiewaho Channel (Kauai/Oahu) is also 3000m deep, as opposed to the 30m of the Strait of Dover...

That's in addition to all the ultra-marathons etc, of course.
What an amazing life.

RIP Linda!
May you continue to inspire and humble!
It was an absolute honor knowing you all those years.

And for those of you with still a breath or two left in your respective meatsacks, get out there and live!

Aloha.
