Newcomer / Intro Symbols on Target Displays

On the ship status display, bottom right, where you can see your shields and hull %, also on th target display, bottom left, where you can see your target's status, there are a few odd little icons/symbols like a yellow flame and a blue '+' sign under the shield ring.

What do these mean? Is this explained anywhere, please?

The one not on the list is Caustic damage, which turns the HUD image a horrid green colour and displays non standard numbers. Not likely to be seen outside Special Ops in a Cz, Ax or ATR.

... and great answer, thank you methateurgist. I wondered long time myself what they could mean, but was too lazy to look them up.

I think I have seen another one looking like the 'Radioactive' symbol - but maybe I am wrong. I do not see it in this list.

The thing looking like a radioactive symbol is probably corrosive damage. It's been added later when Thargoids (and engineered corrosion weapons) were added.

BTW. even if you are lazy, the game manual link is in the top right corner of the launcher. It's worth skimming through ;)
