I have a theory.... I have 'part' of a theory...!
This has been really frustrating me for the last couple weeks (since I just started to try to learn foot combat) and it's been forcing me to want 'night vision' on all my suits cause I can never tell if I'll be fighting in the dark or not... So I started scouting planets in my ship to see if the CZ was in daylight or not. In the few system I have been to I think I'm seeing an actual pattern...
I don't really have the brain power needed, or the multiple locations throughout the galaxy need, to fully solve this problem. But I think there is possibly one light source for all the maps... or more like 'one view'. I started noticing when kris crossing back and forth from one side of the sun to the other... planets on one side of the sun were represented correctly in system view... while all the planets on the opposite side were showing opposite day/night problem.
I believe the perspective may be coming from the center of the galaxy... Sag-A
Those planets that were showing up correctly in lighting were on the far side of the sun from galactic core... and the ones showing complete opposite were on the near side to the galactic core... but in addition the north and south poles seemed to be flipped in the map view. (the flipped poles might explain why the routing put the marker on the opposite side as the routing.
here are some shots from what happens if you take pictures from the 'right' (as in right and left... I'm not sure if that's east or west.... as I said I don't fully understand all this stuff)...
All these pictures will be non-rotated perspectives... only pan and zoom, to represent viewers perspective.
Here is where I am and where Sag-A is...
Here is the non rotated view of what the system map shows...
But here is the Orrery view of the system... (my fleet carrier is at the central star and I am on a moon of planet 2)... The right side of the sun.
as we zoom in on my location, considering the first picture you will see that we are on the far side from the sun, but visible to the perspective (galactic core)...
Now the reason I say it appears the north south poles are flipped is because when you flip the map image, it perfectly matches the Orrery view perspective... So maybe the only real problem with the maps is that somebody accidently reversed north/south poles in the code.
This also may explain why the routing marker and location marker get flipped... orrery view showing actual 'real' location, and picture showing the site....
So the real life perspective from where I am... looking at the galactic core would look like this...
If there are people who are in Colonia or Beagle... or any other locations west, north, east, from Sag-A it might confirm if the central perspective is actually Sag-A or from someplace outside of our Galaxy...
