System map sounds

Dunno if I'm doing something daft, I just noticed that I no longer get the different noises by planet type when I mouse over a body in the system map. This could be since the update yesterday, or it could just be me being a pillock. Can someone else try it out? For instance, I'm currently looking at a water world, but I don't get the 'continuous bubbling and boiling sounds' as shown at http://www.objectscanner.net/

Ta,

Ta,

It doesn't work if you are in supercruise, you need to drop out into normal space to hear them.

Got it - you need to have 'Stellar cartography music' switched on in the audio options. No idea when I switched that off, or why. But now it's back on again, and I can listen to the planets again. And it works in Supercruise, no problem there.

A few patches ago the planet sounds stopped working while charging the FSD but still work in supercruise. The sounds used to work while charging the FSD too, but for some reason they patched that out. I miss them working while charging the FSD, it was very handy.

you probably turned off map sounds in audio settings.

Ta,

told you so :p

told you so :p

Well, to be fair, I looked through the audio controls for 'Map sounds', thinking that I'd have to be a total buffoon to have missed that. 'Stellar Cartography Music' didn't really jump out at me as the obvious culprit :)

yes i just realised myself. i was at work and thought of map and sounds so map sounds seemed right. i had that same problem once but cartography and map is easier to connect for me since map is Karte in german :)
still glad you found it.
