Welcome!

I'm pretty new here myself, peeps are generally pretty friendly.

I'd say your rig should be ok. Mine has comparable specs apart from the GPU, which might need a refresh. I've heard good things about the AMD R9 270 for around £120-130.

If money is really tight, I'd probably wait to see what sort of performance people are getting closer to release. Frontier have said that there are big optimizations still in the works to try and get the best performance for those of us with, shall we say, more mature systems.

The only thing I would change about your specs is your graphics card. I had a radeon HD 6670 and it struggled big time with the premium beta. I replaced it with an Nvidia GTX 760 and the performance increase was incredible.

Thanks for that, I really can stretch to that amount of money. I was hoping to get something around the 50 quid mark or less if possible. I'm not bothered if it's second hand either...

Suggestions?

Your GPU does not satisfy minimal requirements, which are GTX260 and HD4870.

So you probably upgrade your GPU. Could you provide details about PSU that you have?

GTX750Ti most probably should not require PSU upgrade as it is very power efficient and 300W PSU is enough for it. GTX750Ti costs about £100.

If you want AMD GPU than it should be at least R7 260X in the same price range. But it is a little more demanding in terms of PSU.

Then goes R9 270 with the price of £125.
GTX660 is a little more powerful at about £135, however you can get it for £126 here:

R9 270X is priced at £140.

If the PSU is of concern I would go with the GTX 750Ti as the thing is tiny and will fit in almost any case and it runs at about 60W which means it is fully powered from the motherboard and doesn't need any additional direct from the PSU.

I have one in my HTPC and it packs quite a punch and it sits around the 80-120 pound mark depending on make and amount of memory, although I would go with the 2GB card personally.

Tom's hardware did a nice 20 page review of it earlier this year

750w! PSU shouldn't be an issue then. If you can stretch to £90 for an R7 260x, which I believe is what they're going for on amazon at the mo, that'd get my vote. The GTX 750 ti is just as capable a card, but is £20 more expensive at a glance.

I know you want a £50 solution, but I'm not a fan of second hand cards myself. It always seems to wind up costing more in the long run when they blow up after two weeks use.

No one can really tell as this game is still being optimized. I can imagine, at this point, you may have some problems running it smoothly with your setup.

The OP could always save their pennies and go for a partial rebuild of their PC when the game is relased with CPU,mobo, memory and GPU.

I did that 18 months ago and of course my money went a lot further as I wasn't forking out for case, PSU etc.

A decent i5, mobo, etc could be quite low.

lets take this as an example

i5 4670 - £160
8 gig corsair memory 1600 MHz DDR3- £60
Depending on what you want a mobo from £60 to £180
and GPU for £120

so between 400-500 and if your feeling flush you could get a 250 gig SSD drive for around £100 at the moment and the prices on them are tumbling.

So it all depends on what the OP wants, he could get a new card now with a mind to using that later on down the line if he upgrades his PC later on.

Thanks guys.

I wish I could afford to upgrade the whole lot but sadly I can't :(

I'm looking at the R7 260x with interest though :)

One thing to bear in mind is that there should be a new tranche of Maxwell cards coming out sometime this year (maybe). When this happens then some of the cards peeps have mentioned above might get closer to your price range.

Just play it on Low @720p?
Might not look as nice but still playable surely and that's the most important thing ;)

When you can afford it upgrade. Buy the best barebones you need (CPU, GPU, PSU (a good one!!!), Mobo, Memory and a HDD if you haven't got one). If you haven't got a case then improvise :) I've seen a PC running in a cardboard box.
Run it on a TV if you've no monitor.

When you can afford it/birthdays/Xmas get better parts that add to your PC such as a decent case, SSDs, fans to keep it cool, a DVD driver (if you really need one, I only use it to burn CDs), a better heat sink for overclocking, fancy keyboard and mouse and a decent monitor/Oculus Rift etc..
If you spread these out the cost isn't that much.
