Welcome to the T. J. Oakland Park Zoo!
The concept for developing this zoo began when Mr. Arthur Oakland’s great grandfather - Theodore Jameson Oakland, a renowned philanthropist and wildlife enthusiast - had unfortunately passed away, leaving behind his property on the edge of the town of Westwood Creek, England to Arthur Oakland. On this property resides the historic Oakland mansion, which was built eight generations prior to Theodore’s, and a small lake, which is home to his private collection of rescued swans.
In Oakland’s will, he stated that, should he pass, he would donate his massive estate to the town of Westwood Creek for use as a park. The town council had already had plans to convert the the land into a park as a tribute to the kind deeds that the ever-generous Oakland family lineage had done for the community for generations. However, when Arthur had proposed the construction of a zoo as a means to pay tribute to his great grandfather’s love for animals and conservation, the town council jumped on the idea in an effort to increase tourism for the town while helping wildlife.
Thus, it was decided that a zoo would be built in the new T. J. Oakland Park. The Zoo consists of four main areas: Oakland Gardens, the Wild Woodlands, the Serene Highlands, and Central Asia.
See you there!
