T7 v T9???

Type-9 Pro-tip #1: center the horizontal canopy bars in the mailslot for perfect alignment every time

Type-9 Pro-Tip #2: don't fly a Type-9

Nowhere enough love for the T-7 in this thread. Good jump range, pretty tanky, okayish shields, hauls more than a Python and pretty much completely immune to interdictions. Dirt cheap as well.

Mine's go a couple of ion disruptor shock mines and some hi cap seeker launchers.

756T! Whoaa. I remember visiting the Coriolis web site and fitting out the T9 for max cargo one night - couldn't even get it over 400T. Too many beers I guess. Gonna go take another look.

I like the idea of missile and Torpedoes and I believe since 3.0 the T9 has been up armored and FSD range increased some how (I know my T7 got a range boost with 3.0 - with a full load I now get 26 or 27LY and almost 32 unladen - or something like that - remember being shocked when I made what used to be a two jump run laden and it suddenly became just 1).

Not a big fan of a lumbering turtle though - slow and heavy works well as a hand gun caliber not so much I'd think in a space ship flyin' around in areas where everyone wants yur stuff.

Anyway - lots of very good advice - much appreciated.

Edit:
Just visited the Coriolis web site. Most tonnage I could get was 528t and that was with every single optional space loaded with the max size cargo hold that would fit.

How are you guys getting those high tonnage Numbers (coriolis not updated to 3.02 maybe?)

Coriolis still is not updated on the t-9 as of today 3/9/2018 I fly the T9 doing the wing missions solo. I load up with 756 cargo with a shield in one of the 5 slots. Shieldless it runs 788.

Took the Toad out like I figured and went where the wind took me. Made more money today in the 6 hours of flying than I normally do in a week. Here's what's wierd though - making the money wasn't all that satisfying. Don't really need it - it's just a way to keep score now.

What was satisfying - and strangely fun was wrestling the beast around. And getting it engineered up. Got my FSD up to G4 and put an experimental on it that upped the max fuel per jump from 5 to 8.5 which is a big deal for me as I never ever plot economical routes. Got my thrusters up to G3 with Felicity and that's probably all it'll ever get as I'm not gonna do what's necessary to get to the guy that can do it - an intermediate Engineer in the chain of introductions needs 500 tons mined - sorry - not gonna do it - nope. Gotta respect the guys that do mine and like it but I just ain't one of 'em.

What I really wanted to happen was to get interdicted to see how that would work. Flew into an anarchy system with a full load of Basic Medicines and tooled around for a bit and bang! Interdicted. Normally only takes about 30 to 60 seconds for me to win the interdiction game. In the T9 it took me 2 to 3 minutes and a couple of times it almost got away from me. To the poster who said you gotta be 2 or 3 seconds ahead of the T9 - well you are absolutely right because that's when I started flying it that way.

That was near the end of my day and I still wanted to see if I could use the Toad as a smuggler. Turns out - yeah - I could. Tried two dry runs at the next two stations I was delivering to without issue. Center everything up at around 8Km, set the throttle to 140, turn off FA and float to within 3.5 Km of the slot and get clearance to land. Turn on silent running, turn on FA and drive thru the slot. Slap down the gear to brake the ship a bit, zero the throttle so auto-dock will kick in and - done. Easy as easy can be.

I was in Empire space so I bought me 1 Imperial Slave and 1 Slave (hated doing that but I needed some illicit cargo to try the real thing). Headed home and smuggled in those 2T of slaves with nary a hiccup.

Normally I hang out in Haz Res' in my Python and roam anarchy and low security systems pullin' the wanted out of SC to earn a livin. Fun stuff but I'm here to tell ya - I believe I had a level of fun today that is pretty darn close to the fun I have taking on NPC wing's and blowin' em all away in a Haz Res or pullin a Python or Anaconda out of SC and wipin' 'em with my Asp - hard for me (Usually ends up with me tuckin tail and runnin') - or my Python - easy against another Python - borderline hard against an Anaconda.

Great day. I'm gonna like the Lumbering Toad - I think - still not looking forward to the 1st time I have to fight with it though. Nope. Not lookin forward to that at all.

Just picked myself up a T-7, really surprised at how well that ship handles, and the jump is decent. Just headed out for a deep space expo run from miquich and figured I’d share. Miquich is in outbreak and there is a station 6 ly away with over 3600 tons of basic medicines. I was delivering those to miquich for a profit of 1.4 million for 300 tons.

Hmmm...

I gotta T7 - call it the mule. Setup to carry 288t of cargo. Make lots of credits carrying medicine to outbreak systems (mwahahah! - dying and sick people will pay anything to get better). Ooops probly shud'na said that out loud - my mom used to tell me think it - don't say it. But I always say it - probly why no one likes me - probly why I'm a lone wolf bounty hunter and part time trader. Oh d.amn! There I go again - did I take my meds this morning? I can't seem to remember - oh well it'll just make it easier to visit the Haz Res tonight - love seeing those criminal scum vaporized. Ridd'n the Galaxy of evil - one - scumbag - at a time. Yeeeeeeee HAH!

Oh yeah - got a question for you ship spec experts out there. T7 - 288t - no shields, engineered to be fast and can drop a ton of mines if anyone sucessfully interdicts me which happens once in a blue moon - I saw one once - where was it, now? Good ship - I may be crazy but I'm not stupid.

Anyway a guy I know suggested I get a T9 so I could help more people - why would I wanna do that. Costs a lot more and even setup like the Mule it can only carry 330t or so - I think. And I'd have to go off and find the stuff those d.amned greedy engineers want to do simple performance tweaks they've probably done thousands of times - why haven't they trained their lackeys to do it - why? Maybe someday I'll haul meds to their systems, drop the canisters over their base and vaporize them as they fall slowly to the ground. Yeah that's it. Note to self find an engineer base in an outbreak system - no dummy that'd just be a waste of credits - shut up - I'm gonna do it - no you're not...

<rolls shoulders - shakes head rapidly left to right>

Wait - what! Sorry about that - the voices can get pushy sometimes.

Bak on subject: One wonders (hey - who is one - get the h.ell outt'a my head one) if this one (GET OUT!) should buy a T9 and if so what wood <ehhh - hehheh - he said wood> be the best way to outfit it?

Tell me - if you do I promise not to turn you into plasma - at least not when I'm on my meds anyway.

[RP Off]

Seriously - I've gone over everything and for the life of me cannot figure out the cost/benefit advantage of a T9 over a T7.

Thoughts? Is it worth the cost? Fun ship to fly? (my T7 can turn on a dime).

I can't see owning a T7 vs the Python. Python is also a medium sized ship, and also holds well over 240T when simultaneously fully A-Rated for fighting with max shields...
