T9 Pilots, show your precious!

maybe its a vicious design circle. the more cargo mass you haul, the larger your engines need to be, which makes more overall mass, which means you need larger engines, which...

They had to make a cutoff point somewhere as far as cargo is concerned.

however the Cutter do not have 2/3 more volume than the T9 so just wondering

I lost a T-9 in a similar fashion. I totally underestimated an Asp's ability to harm me and started to low wake only to be shocked that an Asp could mass-inhibit a T-9. By the time I could lock on a system to high wake and wind up the FSD, I was toast. Lesson learned.

In those days, I probably had a smaller shield generator than I carry now but given its hull mass it should either have much better base armor or more cargo capacity. The T-9 is such a lovely, big brute of a ship, it really deserves some love from the perspective of today's game.

Yeah I think I used to run with only a 3A or 4A with a couple of boosters. You know, enough for bumps and scrapes and getting away from anything that doesn't mass lock you. Things are different now as shields go down so fast and modules get fried in 2 seconds too.

I'd love to get another T9 now that I have VR as I really want to check out that huge bridge, and in the T7 too. Think I'm going to wait for the ship launched fighters before I step back in one again though, things being what they are right now.

There is a really cool early dev picture of the T7 out there (I'll try to find the link) I guess many people look at these ships and picture a big empty space to pack cargo into. The T7's cargo bay was a fairly small section of the overall hull, the rest was taken up by what I assume is corridors/rooms/engine pylons etc etc.

Likely the same deal with all the other ships, it's hard to tell the exact cargo bay size from looking at the sip externally.
