Trying to convince myself I like the new system but it's a hollow impression. I will give it a good go but I personally find it feels like more busywork for me. I imagine most will appreciate the changes though but sadly I'm not currently one of them.

+1 Cmdr; a shame to lose a pilot of your experience who has made a significant contribution to exploration. I haven't seen the changes as I haven't indulged in Beta but am not confident that the changes will suit my style/mode of play. If this is the case, then I'll be forced to adapt and, if I cant adapt to the forced change (i.e. it still doesn't suit my way of playing the game) I'll also drop it.

Best wishes
Cmdr A

This isn't a surprise, but it still makes me sad. Jackie's gone, MattG's gone, Allitnil's gone: there go in my opinion the best explorers.
Have fun with whatever you'll do, and if Frontier will someday improve exploration for everyone, I hope to see you again!

Following the recent obfuscation of the exploration side of the game, I'm off.

wait until release, miracles do happen and there's a slim chance frontier changes heart. or come back in a year, maybe by then they have had time to really think this one out.

sad to see you go. since you seem to be a well respected explorer i guess we won't be seeing any mocking and deriding this time. o/

its a kick in the teeth as those folk have contributed so much to the ED community over the years which is probably taken for granted today by many including the developers, we wouldn't even know of systems on the fringes to go to without these CMDrs etc.

Frontier " yeah thanks for your contributions now we have them, well yeah basically - screw your playstyle.... this is what we're doing now"

there is no content added to the game and some of our biggest contributors are leaving and well... yeah not searching any more so while ED arnt adding content, we have less people finding the little thats out there..... sad times.

i kinda have a back up with mining, although i bet;

FD haven't included small deep core mining tools (hardpoints)
theres more modules than slots available meaning anything other than a conda makes it impracticable
Limpets are still cargo
deep core spawns once in a blue moon.

live stream may tell me more but after the exploration nonsense i dont have much hope. i wish this was 4.0 because then i just simply wouldnt buy it.

and if all that fails, well i better start looking at other games.

It deeply saddens me to see so many prominent names in the exploration community saying that they will be departing. I hate to say it, but in a way it was inevitable. The reason is simple-- People have been exploring using the game's current (non-)mechanics, and got used to doing things a certain way, and perhaps enjoyed it specifically because of the way it has worked. Otherwise they wouldn't still be doing it. The new mechanics are pulling the rug out from under long-time players. And if you have any attachment to the old system, that can truly suck. I understand what that's like, from other games I've played (Star Wars Galaxies rings a bell).

Personally, I was starting to get rather bored with the lack of exploration content, to the point that I'm starting to fall asleep during hyperjumps. But the thing that has kept me going is the beauty of space. No other game lets me explore a semi-realistic galaxy in an immersive way. So I'm mentally in a place where I'm ready to adapt to the changes. But I totally understand why others don't want to.

Well it's no surprise that those who were most engaged in the current exploration game would be the most affected by it.

I would not take it personally, at this stage I honestly think it's difficult to say whether it's better or worse.

It's clearly different.

The focus of exploration is different.

The reported discoveries thing is awesome, the dividing of the galaxy into areas is great.

It's difficult to say where it will go at this time, but I think there's a great deal of promise there, with real exploration goals being brought into the game, and CMDRs on mass heading to areas to seek things out, or strange discoveries popping up in your feed.

I would not write it off yet. But yeah as I say it's totally understandable (and expected) that those most engaged in the current exploration game might feel most negatively affected by large changes.

@ Orvidius: Sorry, but I think you have it wrong. The main point is obfuscation. The biggest problem isn't clumsy new controls or such, but the developers hiding information we used to have.

Sorry, I didn’t want to repeat it again, but I have to agree and go "on vacation" too. But another batch of ELWs will be this year anyway

Jackie, can i suggest you wait until all this goes live and then decide? My hope is they will add new stuff that will be worth the time spent playing with that gadget.

If you are not in the right mood for staying - all the best!

It is sad to see the most prominent explorers leave...
