ROFL, it "cheapens game play", but YOU use voice attack ?
Having to navigate convoluted menus isn't game play btw, that's lack of functionality.
No, it requires skill. Macros make it stupid simple.
Case in point:
I have 2 B-rated Shield cells equipped. Each have 4 charges. Because of power constraints, I can only have one powered up at a time. So, here comes macro that:
Fires shield cell, increases counter by 1.
When counter reaches 4, go into modules power down first bank, power up second bank.
When counter reaches 7, play audible warning that there is only one charge left.
When counter reaches 8, play audible warning that there are no more charges left.
.
That kind of functionality is HUGE. For one, you don't have to count, the macro will AUTOMATICALLY switch banks when one runs out, and it will warn you when you're close to being completely out. Also, doing it manually would take 1-3 seconds, assuming you pre-position to a nearby module and don't have to scroll too much. Then you have to be SURE you don't click on the wrong button, like say changing the priority instead of de-activating. With a macro, it is done in 0.5 seconds, basically a blip of the screen and there is no way it'll misclick.
.
Just because you don't push the limits of what macro programs can do, doesn't mean other people don't.

'Lol' - Really?
I'm going to guess you text while driving instead of using Microsoft Synch ,etc.?
A Tab stop won't stop me or others from using the panels, but it will simplify the tasks that are currently REQUIRED. Read: request docking....
Real life makes for poor gameplay.
