Take a step back: Lets revisit the advertised vision Frontier Developments has for Elite: Dangerous

If I can sum up for FDEV:

* People are praising the visual, audio, and spaceship simulation aspect of the game. +1
* People are complaining about the gameplay design around the game, the implementation of the MMO aspect. -1

Do the math, FDEV. For 1.4, please either:

* Add more depth and content to the spaceship simulation
* Change direction of the MMO game design implementation
This is it. I keep getting people going after my balls for besmirching the name of Elite Dangerous, but at the same time I've always said the game itself, in terms of graphics, flight controls, etc are fantastic. Its just the gameplay aspect of the game is trash. Its a case of so close yet so far.

So would you agree that FD's mission statement advertised on the home page is false advertisement or just very poorly executed? Perhaps both?

Is there any particular part that you have issue with? All of the stated features are technically in the game.

Yes, the distancing from Solo is a bit of a worry I agree.

Right now we're moving 180deg away from the original plans and visions...

Instead of focusing on those "400 Billion Systems of nothing" and fleshing out existing Options, I guess business decisions made them go 1990's Console-style and add PowerPlay.

Next up CQC...

Just imagine that... 400 Billion Systems waiting to be filled with content. Any content.

Immersion, Depth, Adventure, Blast your own trail... We're Lightyears away from that - still pointed away from it - and the Throttles are still at max.

+1 and repped..... Could not have said it any better

Makes one sad to think what could/should have been :(

Also I'd like to point out that no where on the home page do the words "single" or "solo" appear. It is advertised entirely as a MMO game. I would like to ask them why they decided to split the player base.

Because many people, myself included backed the game from the first instance with the promise that these modes would be in the game. The game wasn't originally billed as an MMO, but as a game where everyone shared and influenced the same universe, be it in solo or in open play. I shan't even bother going into the whole offline/online fiasco.

I find the fact that they are now billing it as an MMO quite worrying and annoying. This was never stated as their original intention and really the game still isn't an MMO anyway. So it's kind of misleading if you ask me.
