Taking the Account over to Steam

Hi,
I want to buy Elite Dangerous for Steam (am currently on Epic), but will only do it if i can then log in with my Elite Dangerous account that i used for Epic and if everything would then get transfered (commander, Ships, Ranks, Money etc.)

Has anybody experiences wit that?

Thanks for helping,

The answer is, if it can be done at all is entirely up to FDEV, you would need to contact them to see if it is possible to move the account to Steam, and of course that also relies on Epic letting it go because that's who your current account is with. If you create a new account on Steam your Steam account would be a separate account linked to a different email address and CMDR name and couldn't be linked to your old one.

Nope. Not possible.

All purchases on third-party PC platforms made after April 2019 are bound towards their respective platform and cannot be migrated.

All purchases before April 2019 are dual-platform (Steam and Frontier Store)

If that was possible, it would likely fall under the same restrictions as with Console to PC migration: Net Worth in Credits only. No ranks, ships, modules, engineers unlocks etc.

Thought that might be the case, I don't do Epic or Steam myself.

I just want to make sure, if i buy elite on steam with my money, i cant move my data to steam? am i right ?

That seems to be the case, I doubt if anyone has actually tried, but if you buy a Steam account it will be a separate account from your Epic account and you won't be able to share anything between the two.

Ok thanks for your help
I just thought it, because i have to log in to elite dangerous seperately wit a frontier account

Ok, i have now E-Mailed the Support. It is actually possible to get your game data copied, as it is linked to your Frontier account. You can´t share between PC and Console, and you can´t get the Game itself transfered, so you have to buy it seperately on steam. You just have to log in into the Elite Launcher with the Old Frontier Account.

I'd suggest buying from Frontier directly if you wish to do so:

This way, your game will run dedicated, without any third-party account whatsoever. If you wish to use it in Steam, you can still do so by adding the ED Launcher of the standalone version as a non-Steam game. Also, Frontier will get a 100% cut instead of 70% (Steam) or 88% (Epic).

When you get your game on Epic - it links your Epic account with a Frontier account (an existing one or a new one)
When you get the game on Steam it links your Steam account with a Frontier account - it could be possible to link that steam account with the Frontier account created when you started on Epic

So you could play your Steam Account with the Frontier account created for your Epic account.
That happened for the people that already had the game on steam and wanted the free account on epic and they linked they epic account with the "wrong" FD account
