Taman Safari Hutan

I've been working a lot on my zoo this week, and some things are coming together. Here's some images from the ASCO/orangutan viewing areas and the connection to the higher area where I'm creating a more themed section that will probably have babirusa.

Wow. All those shots are stunningly beautiful. You've created such a fantastic atmosphere there. It makes me want to be there.

I recently started working on an elevated path from where guests can see saltwater crocodiles. It's a new version of what I had for the gharials in the old zoo, and based on the Singapore Zoo Treetop Trail. I'm planning to connect it to a small reptile area that is partly indoors and partly outdoors (based on Singapore Zoo's RepTopia), but haven't figured out all the logistics.

I did some more work on the reptile area. From the saltwater crocodile walkway, the trail goes through a small building with desert reptile terrariums.

Exiting the building, you have the Komodo dragon exhibit on your right. There's a wall in the middle to separate individuals if needed. On the left side, there are two tortoise exhibits which connect at a small building where visitors can see their indoor parts as well as a terrarium for Hermann's tortoises.

Hi guys! My name is TheYeti! Some of you might know me from Zoo Tycoon 2, but I've also been struggling with Planet Zoo for quite a bit. It took me some time to get used to it, but I feel like I'm finally on a project that's going somewhere. Taman Safari Hutan is supposed to be a jungle-themed zoo in the future capital of Indonesia. I've had this plan in my head for quite a while, but partly thanks to Koali Zoo I finally found inspiration to work on it in this game.

Anyway, here's some shots from the first exhibit that I've worked on. It houses two Chinese pangolins and also has a some staff facilities. The building is inspired by typical constructions you would normally find in rural tropical areas.

This is beautiful!

Today I spent about 1.5 hours building a simple toilet at the entrance of the reptile area that is unlikely to be really noticed by anyone.

Further down the reptile area, you can now make a sharp left turn after the Komodo dragons. Via an implied terrapin habitat, you're led to another crocodylian area.

The crocodylian part starts with a land view of the gharials, before you go down to an underwater viewing area for the gharials and another species, either American alligators or a mixed caiman habitat.

I still have to upload the signs, make a bit of a backstage area, and bring together the loose ends through a small terrarium section that connects back to the entrance. Then this corner of the park will be finished.

It may not add to the realistic feeling of the zoo, but I decided to make some rice fields on the slope of the Toraja highlands, which is one of the centrepieces of the zoo.

They're almost finished at this point. I think they'll end up at a little stream or lake in the valley, while the other side should be another hillside where visitors can see some of the Asian species from the jeep tour and the adventure trail (a pathway where visitors get a feeling they're in the jungle, rather than a zoo on the city fringes). I'm not sure how it'll all connect but I have some ideas.

On top of the Toraja highland section, I'm trying to create a little educational area with free-roaming pigs (very important in Torajan culture) and maybe chickens. Zookeepers will need to go through this habitat to reach the babirusa habitat, so I hope that won't be a major problem.

As you may have seen in the 'What did you do in Planet Zoo today?' thread, I'm doing some reworks of the zoo, and most importantly the entrance section. Here's a first look of the Monkey Bar, a little café/restaurant where visitors can enjoy a coffee before entering or after leaving the zoo. It will have one section outside of the entrance and one section within the zoo.

I've finally made some progress on my zoo again, for the first time this year. I've redone the entrance plaza with the penguin exhibit, and pretty much restored the old section although I prefer the new look and it's better connected.

I cleared the section left of the entrance. I'm considering turning it into an educational space, maybe featuring a small playground.
