Taxi or ship delivery freight service.

Has there been any sign or hint from Frontier that we may soon enjoy either a taxi service via the stations home menu. Or perhaps better (concerning game mechanics) a freight delivery service where no travel is required by the Cmdr. And your ship is delivered to your designated home base? At the cost of credits based on ships distance.

Having a number of ships docked over the bubble for various reasons, either left at a past CG or an obsolete trade route. Then.... purchasing a sidewinder, upgrading it for maximum jump range, only to sell it at the other end. So to return your ship/ships to a home base.... isn't an efficient or enjoyable solution.
It's been mentioned more than once by Cmdr's and any information on this would be welcomed.
Thanks Flimley.

It has been mentioned in several Q&A's as something that is on their agenda. Most likely the latter-where a ship can be brought to you......for a price! Who knows, though, when Passenger Missions & Multi-Crews come in, maybe you can hitch a ride with another player & get them to take you to the station where you ship is parked ;).

Everybody is waiting for this feature, we don't know when it's coming, but it's coming.
Until then we can enjoy the 12 LY jump range of the combat ships :)
I really don't understand why it hurts the devs to give the combat ships bigger jump range...

Why can we just have a prompt on the log in screen asking which ship we want to Use? Then log in out to swap.

I dont see why it should be some big deal to swop ships or cost time or credits to do it. You can only fly one at a time so you always leaving one or more ships behind, a long way behind usualy.

Maybe because everyone will fly only combat ships? Don't get me wrong i really love to encounter another commanders in combat ships, but for some people this will be a game breaker.

Is the proposed 'taxi service' some sort of no-risk instantaneous teleport from one location to another? I can't see that fitting in with the game scenario at all. A real 'taxi' would take time, and involve all the risks of travelling through a potentially hostile environment...

Some valid points made there. Which is why I consider the freight service to be the better option. You would expect this to take some time and cost some money. Plus I'm thinking returning your ship to your designated home base (Assuming most people have such a place) will prevent let's say, too a convenient strategic situation for your cmdr.

It was mentioned as being on the list within the last month or two, but still no signs of it.

I proposed a solution (using transporter ships) just over a year ago - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=71102&p=1188301&viewfull=1#post1188301

Hello NeilF, your option number 1 was pretty much identical to my freight idea. I too imagine and would love to see big rectangular heavily armoured freighters park up next to space stations (within the no firing zone) and watch a couple of ships leave and dock themselves at the starport. After all we now have 'dismiss and recall your ship' in Horizons.
Flimley.

Yep, would at least bring a bit more "life" to the activity around stations, as well as adding a much need ship transportation mechanic.

Throw in a small security wing of craft too when arriving/leaving :)

Use a diamondback scout, it's cheap and fast with a very good jump range and action radius.
I'm slowly building up some 'operational regions' with a center system where I park my main ship for that region.
One is at Lembada and surroundings where I've parked my trading ship (currently a T7, but will upgrade to a T9 soon), one area on the edge of occupied space where I've parked my Asp for exploration and a combat Python near Sol which is a good enough center point for a lot of action.
Using the DBS to fly from one region to the other depending on my mood or CG I want to contribute to.
I used to buy/sell sideys whenever needed, but currently this leather chair with heated feet, butt and armrests and 9.1 bass-boost surround system DBS is my personal space taxi.

I don't see this as game breaking in any way. If I'm in a ship with poor jump range and I want to be 200ly some place else I'll either sell it outright and take a 15% hit or fit a Hauler and buy the same combat ship closer my destination.

And to the person who said people will only fly combat ships, that's false. People will fly whatever they want and this will make it easier to fly different ships more often.

If anything at least let me liquidate assets across the galaxy from any station because I currently have too many Vipers, Eagles, and Vultures spread around.
