Research seems to be buggy in general. Numerous times I'll assign a staff member to research something only to check back in a few minutes to see that the research was never completed and the staff member is longer researching anything. And then other times the staff member completes the research just fine without issue. It's weird.
Edit: After reading the forums some more, the issue appears to be that the staff member deciding to take a break in the staff room while in the middle of research will cancel the research entirely. Hopefully they'll patch it so a staff member will not take their break until the research has completed.
Same here. I assign (or try) a researcher and I may get a notice that research is finished, but then notice no change in the chosen field. When I try to reassign, it doesn't until I take a break from that and come back. I'm not even sure if the research is even working.
I hope they'll fix research, animals reproducing at the rate of rabbits, the time it takes for in game time to move, and the keepers not doing their jobs. If they can fix all of these things, this game will be amazing.
i can't get mechanics to research anything, even when i hire a ton of extras and set them into a workzone that is just workshops. One guy has been researching New World Scenery for three hours and hasn't made any progress
It's been slower than the animal research for me but does work eventually (though you have to keep an eye on it and reassign when necessary). Have you trained your mechanics? My level 3 guys seem to definitely be faster.
