Technically my fault...but still unrealistic and dumb

I was facing the screen of a Python rebuy when I shot an Adder outside of a station a millisecond before the scan finished and got obliterated by the feds right after even though they were all shooting it, I mean come on! that's 3.7 million down the drain (not counting the 300K-ish I had in unclaimed bounties) and I was helping the feds, but apparently, I still have to scan something millions of feds was shooting at...I mean, I know how the game mechanics work, but is it possible to get my ship refunded for this utter break in immersion for something so inconceivably dumb?

Yesterday I had a "wanted"-Tag (200 cr fine) for friendly-fire in a RES. When I tried to cash in my bounties I got scanned upon entering the station and everyone fired at me. I turned and boosted away, entering supercruise with 1 shield-ring left. In supercruise I U-turned and returned to station. This time no scan - i could enter and wipe my fine.
This method worked for many times and saved me a lot of rebuys. Maybe try this next time.

Did you start shooting before the scan finished? You have to wait for it to show the WANTED status before shooting. I helped out the fuzz the other day near a station no problem

I don't think I would have taken the chance of getting in a furball while docking. I have tunnel vision when I finally decide to go to base, and while tempting, there's just too many things that can go wrong, and fast. I don't necessarily feel that you should have thought that way to begin with. Your way is more exciting and, you know: Dangerous!

That's a whole 200 Cr bounty on you, the police cannot resist. It's not like the 200k+ Cr Conda they are shooting at can compare at all.

It was already stated by the devs that you have to wait for the scan to be completed before firing at the enemy and this is not going to be changed. And do not fire in the no fire zone - this is totally not worth it. How much would you earn destroying a wanted Adder? I think that it is 15k Cr on average. So you were took the risk of losing ~4M Cr for 15k Cr profit. Totally not worth it.

I think we've all been there, some of us many times, before we accept the rule of "no invite, no party".

As a RES player, I myself have moaned enough about these mechanics in other threads, but I don't see it changing anytime soon, so I wouldn't hold your breath about getting any refund on your losses.

I'm familiar with this, but it was literally wanted right after I shot it, like a split-second before, and I still got obliterated instantly...

They are fixing this, so now you can just shoot first ask questions later.

This just happened to me but I dont think its a bad thing. I dont think its immersion breaking.

I never go to bounty extracting sites very often and I cant believe how ridiculous its got due to greedy player feedback.

Now you dont have to kill them, you make an absolute fortune compared to anything else in the game and now we soon we arent even going to have to return to repay our fines for being trigger happy so we can sit in their forever and nothing will get in the way of our bounty racking up time.

I know, but still, usually what I get in bounty easily outweighs the no-fire fines, but come on - if everyone else was shooting it, why can't I without suddenly getting peppered? Surely there should be some leeway on an Allied member of the faction.

Unrealistic? In a game where you're a space bounty hunter, hunting interstellar pirates?

Well, think about it this way: You help cops apprehend a criminal, and then they shoot you to death

I think this mechanic was introduced to fix another gameplay related problem, but I don't remember the details

If police officers are shooting at someone... can you also start shooting at that person?

To be honest, I don't mind that you get fined for the friendly-fire or unscanned-fire incidents. I just mind that you become instantly Wanted when it happens. I feel that the fines accrued should require payment within 24 hours, after which if they are unpaid, you are declared Wanted for the outstanding amount, plus say a further charge of non-payment.

By shooting before the scan was complete, you were also a criminal. The cops were simply being fair and shooting all the criminals more or less equally.

Well, I'm also a high-ranking Federal officer, surely that counts for something? Why don't the cops recognize an Allied officer?

I'm sure they were especially happy to shoot up an officer. You know how it is sometimes.
