Terrible judder at planetary starports

I also have performance issue with lag/jedder/fps on planets too, mainly when moving my head. Using strix GTX970. Before horizons I only played normal elite(non-beta) and aside for the damn SC judder all was well. Now with horizons, performamnce in space is as before and I beleive SC judder is improved, but once getting close to landing on planets -forget about it- not playable!!!

It's funny how some others are having great performance with the GTX970, I don't get it. Maybe it's cpu differences, maybe it's planet-dependant?
We should all do some benchmarking where we pick one planet/moon/port and all test there. That way we can compare apples with apples.

I have the same card, and like you I think the Strix version is less powerful. On my side, I can still run Horizons beyond 75 Hertz with big sacrifices : Turn down SS at 1.0, put everything to low, remove shadows, turn off antialiasing, lower more than half the Oculus quality bar, etc. It's ugly as hell, but most of time everything's running smooth. The Oculus CV1 version will need a much stronger videocard to be able to run at 90 Hertz at higher resolution, I hope Nvidia will sell their next gen card at same time when it become available.

I'm running 2 x titan x and even with SLI on (which is uncomfortable due to the additional latency) I can't max out with 1.5 in cities without bad judder.

Can confirm. I only have 1 TitanX, but FPS is abysmal on the surface.

Has performance dropped compared to the last Horizons Beta?

something had to have changed. During the beta surface driving and such, had low fps, but stand able. I can hardly stand driving around now with full release. Beta with ultra settings i was hitting upwards of about 65, a little skippy but do able. Now im sitting 40-50 and constantly dropping frames. I have to drop to almost everything worth using to low for a drive able experience. It sucks.

So those of you with 900 series, don't go buying new cards just yet. Currently it looks like even if you have some of the strongest cards on the market in SLI cant hand this game. Hopefully things will get sorted out and optimized... hopefully. The mouse widget at infinite focus still hasn't been fixed, and that is over 3 months old now... so... the countdown begins.

I am also having judder problems now, when I didn't have any in the Beta or the initial release.
I think it is either this new patch that came in a after day one of release or the new Nvidia drivers that came out a few days ago.
Also I just tired the training mission and they are fine though?!

Another annoyance with horizons is the clipped fov "black shutter" to the side of you view. The only way I have reduced it is ensure the rift is on and your position is set (ie head in the right place) when you press PLAY.
Hope this is sort soon. I have already missed so much gamne play with the lack of Oculus support since I moved to Windows 10 and runtime 0.8
Cheers

I have a Stryx GTX 970 and I7 3770k, but with my DK2 on planet surface in SRV near bases, with everything at the lowest setting (which make this game so ugly) I cannot keep a good framerate and it's unplayable in VR. Of course, game is smooth with everything at max on my monitor at 1080p. It's sad because I can live with low setting but not with bad framerate.

I'm seeing some weird things in Horizons since launch - not all bad. Firstly everything in space is buttery smooth even at Ultra settings (970 with a top end i7 and 16GB RAM). Planets seem OK with settings turned down a notch but planetary ports are incredibly bad.

What has really confused me is that I used to run with the resolution set to 1440p (via the Nvidia Control panel) and yet I've dropped down to 1080p and I seriously couldn't sport any difference in game - even turning on SMAA or using the supersampling settings seemed to be marginal. I'm sure there used to be a massive difference, but to be honest 1080p seems fine at the moment and has helped improve FPS - although it's still not great on the ground.

I also have the 970 but have always had my settings pretty low for ED on the DK2 and I am experiencing no judder. Had my first go in the rover yesterday and it was smooth with no judder as I was flying along the moons surface. Again my settings are pretty much all set to LOW.
