TEST:MH Fleet Operations

Man, Ghostickles... I've to hijack this thread to ask you an question asides. I've been thinking these last 3 hours what Elite: Dangerous would be, if FD would combine the "Management / Industry / Economy" of EVE Online with the power of 1st-Person-Experience...

And I just come to the conclusion, that it would be ossumely ossum.

What do you think?

It wouldn't work with ED's models, it would work to do GTAV style 'gang' fights/beefs and other innovations from that game. The EvE mechanics do rely heavily on all players being in a single universe, management/industry and economy should be in NPC hands here, and instanced accordingly. This would allow for player 'owned' items, but they would also rely on mode participation and instancing and not be a feature other players could access/grief unless invited/allowed.
Long story short; Management/industry and economy should be sorta like the Garages and Penthouses you can buy in GTAV. They should only ever be at risk if you chose to play with them in Open, with everyone. Like the other toys in this game. :)

+1, nonetheless I keep thinking that ED still doesn't knows what kind of game it is... lol.

I have the opposite feeling the Devs at FD know exactly what they have, its the player base that doesn't seem to know what ED is, or where it is going. This is probably going to be an All Star of Space Epics, when it gets some updates for both single and multiplayers.
.
For the rest of you, please stop the multiplayer Witch hunt, these are all players and backers forming these groups, they enjoy a bigger bite of the game than you, so please go cry wolf elsewhere.

You still can play solo, right?

Yeh that's right - force everyone to submit to the player corporation domination-style gameplay some want (which was a style never intended in the design of Elite: Dangerous to this point) and have us (ie those who you want to send to solo) forego the opportunity for the cooperative multiplayer experience that Frontier intended by having the open mode in the first place (and that we signed up for). The sooner some people wake up and realise that Elite: Dangerous is not Elite: Eve Redux the better. Yes, we could go solo or private group but it is still a shared galaxy, and even solo in a galaxy dominated by player corporations owning systems and fighting for control is not the solo we signed up for. Surely you will want that territorial control to be pervasive will you not? The stations you 'own' or control to appear across the shared galaxy, reflecting that your player faction/corporation controls them, which means they must also influence the experiences of players who stay in solo or private groups? So in the player territorial control version of Elite: Dangerous you would want to dominate whole systems but because the galaxy is shared across the modes you would be effectively imposing that upon the other modes - which would mean that even going to private groups or solo would fail to escape fully the results of the gameplay that you would impose on the rest of open. I suppose you would trot out the counter argument that by opposing the implementation of such gameplay that we would be imposing our gameplay style on you - which is actually incorrect - we would be simply supporting the gameplay design as set out to this point by Frontier (ie imposed on everyone equally).

Jos, relax mate -

TEST, Mostly Harmless members have been conducting security operations in Beta Sculpturis since an assault on a members Type trading vessel on the 21st of the month. Here are some of battles that resulted from the conflict.

TEST Syndicate protects this system, report to us any piracy activities.

Having watched this video I have immediately reported you to Ministry of Public Activities.
You are not at all supposed to havethat much fun out the game.
The fun clearly needs to be nerfed and I will start a thread so we can secure Dev's attention to this matter.
Please stop this exploiting right now.

;)

Great :)

Cheers Cmdr's

All I see is a bunch of player killers wiping out ships by ganging up on them

I mean, was it really necessary to kill the eagle in such a huge ship?

This kind of garbage just makes people wanna play solo more

It should be renamed "Test goes on murderous rampage and huge fleet gangs up on players"

I see nothing but player killing for the sake of it

lol, that eagle is STILL there, picking on ships much bigger than itself. The pilot is an absolute sport, and is obviously having a good time still, trade here is thriving and active, many groups are participating, you need to know the whole story not, its not just inch deep....

I've had a couple of discussions on guilds in Elite.

Apparently they don't exist! Well quite obviously they do.

Now I see my prediction that non-guild players want to be able to see which commanders are part of a guild so they can block etc. People have finally cottoned on that it makes no odds if ED is instanced if you have 3200 players you can own a lot of instances.

I'm guessing Frontier used instances to stop blobbing and keep infrastructure investment down. But all it does is make it easier to blob.

This is exactly the wrong way to handle the advantages the game has for you. Instead of increasing your block list you want to increase your friends, and friends of like minded groups, to increase the number of your own instances. By having at least 16 people on your friends list you have an equal chance in any Open room, and that's not a lot of people.
This would make those Blobs sit virtually alone in there own instances for the most part.
Blocking only reduces your chance of seeing them, so its you who gets lonely, not the groups.
Also please accept that Humans are social creatures, and profit.

On behalf of all of TEST:MH I sincerely apologize for any fun *shudder* that was had in the making and filming of this video and apologize if it's offended any viewers. I'm hoping that as the game moves forward any and all fun remaining is removed. ;)

Cheers Comrade Napoleon, see you out there! :)

No one here seems to understand the tactics needed to fight with groups of commanders. You see everyone who knows what they are doing are using shield cell banks. This allows any type of ship to tank extremely large amounts of damage as they are able to recharge their shields whenever they are hit. To overcome this both sides do their best to overwhelm a ships shields to take them down before the shield cell can do its job. Thats why you see 5 on one. We focused our fire to take our targets down, (1 down 5 more to go). It is not a dogfight, it is fleet action.
