Man, Ghostickles... I've to hijack this thread to ask you an question asides. I've been thinking these last 3 hours what Elite: Dangerous would be, if FD would combine the "Management / Industry / Economy" of EVE Online with the power of 1st-Person-Experience...
And I just come to the conclusion, that it would be ossumely ossum.
What do you think?
It wouldn't work with ED's models, it would work to do GTAV style 'gang' fights/beefs and other innovations from that game. The EvE mechanics do rely heavily on all players being in a single universe, management/industry and economy should be in NPC hands here, and instanced accordingly. This would allow for player 'owned' items, but they would also rely on mode participation and instancing and not be a feature other players could access/grief unless invited/allowed.
Long story short; Management/industry and economy should be sorta like the Garages and Penthouses you can buy in GTAV. They should only ever be at risk if you chose to play with them in Open, with everyone. Like the other toys in this game.
