Testing the instancing in Odyssey!

Just came here after watching that video. Had to see it 2 or 3 times because it was so beautifully done (music was perfect).

FYI, the owner of that Beluga in the video has the best accessory set and paint job combination I've ever seen. Kudos to the owner.

This turned out to be much much easier to instance in Odyssey than Horizons ever was!

We found the most beautiful location for this spectacle and set this to a musical track by CMDR AlzoXP

Hope you enjoy CMDRs, o7
So what is the TL: DR from the session? What are the prerequisite circumstances, possibilities and limitations?

TL;DW:

Be there at the same time of several other people.

Be there with several other people.

Bump into people because too many people.
In terms of "limitations" I would say that the game obviously already allows for instances like this of 30+ CMDRs so that is not an issue... But we have to use the Wing feature to "wing" in other players quite often. I really hope that FDEV implements one day some sort of "Squadron" or "Friend List" beacon that allows for natural local instancing without the need to "wing" in other players.

I enjoy all of BP's videos, but happen to be in a spot where I can't watch this one atm.

Were all of the participants in the same timezone?
What connection bandwidth maxs and mins?
What was the min spec and max spec machine represented?
Did all participants experience the same smoothness of instance, did some experience rubberbanding?
Did anyone have difficulty joining the instance?
Did anyone get kicked from the instance?

Is this what you were cuious about Globusdiablo?

Something along those lines, yes. :)

You can find answers to some of those questions in the video description itself actually:

Without trying we ended up with two instances with around 15+ each, we then winged everyone in to one instance of 35 CMDRs. One ship was destroyed and that CMDR instanced back in with no problem whatsoever and without being in a wing. There were no appreciable lag-spikes reported from anyone and overall it ran very smoothly and was hugely positive.

As far as I could see there were indeed commanders from various time zones, from across the pond and in Europe at least

Would it be possible to do the same test in Horizons just to have a straight comparison?
