Thank You Devs

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you guys for your work, and to let you know how Elite has helped me lately. My six month old daughter unexpectedly passed away in her sleep at daycare a month ago. Obviously my wife and I are completely crushed. In an effort to try and distract myself, I downloaded Elite onto my PS4 and fired it up. It has done more for me in dealing with my grief than I can really explain. It’s been just enough to distract me, yet engage me enough to think over my grief and try to work through it. Doing exploring missions is relaxing and soothing, which is what I’ve really needed lately. I’m tearing up right now just thinking about it.
Thanks again for all your work. You never know when you begin a project, how it will impact people down the line one day, and yours has done more than I could ever thank you for. Thank you so much.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's nice that you have something to distract you from the pain. I never would have thought ED would be helpful in that way, but it makes sense.

I doubt that the pain will ever go away, but I hope it becomes more bearable for you and your wife.

I am so sorry..... a parents worst nightmare, not sure what else to say :( my condolences to your family.

My deepest sympathies and condolences for your loss. I have a 6yo daughter, and can't imagine a world without her, I really wish you and your wife the best.

Exploration is very good like that, though, it gives you something to do, a focus, but at the same time allows you to think. It's almost Zen-like in ways, once you get a rhythm going.

I'm sure the devs will be glad that their hard work is helping someone in a situation like yours.

My children are the center of my universe. I live every day trying to measure up to their needs and expectations, and I fear for their health and safety above all else. My deepest condolences for your loss, Thomas. I hope that you find your daughter out amongst the stars.

I hear you and feel your sorrow. I could not imagine.

Good that ED can help somewhat. I think it may be a good game for moving on with your life together.

I echo Zemans sentiments. I have a 4 & 2 year old and can't imagine life without them.
I'm glad ED has given you the head space to work through your unimaginable loss.
Love to you and your wife.

Deepest sypathies CMDR, a shocking and life changing event. I have a 2yr old and cannot imagine life without him. If Elite Dangerous provides a small service in helping you with your anguish i think the devs would feel very happy in their role. And yes you can lose yourself for just a while in there.

Hi PotterOneHalf,

Sorry to hear about your loss. As others have said in this thread already, words are wholly, and woefully inadequate to give any form of comfort; however, for what it's worth, you have our deepest sympathies. I'm glad that Elite has given you a channel through which you can escape some of the harsh reality and allowed you to begin to work through it. I cannot imagine how difficult it is for you.

I've sent you a PM here on the forums too.
