Thank You Devs

Words fail me. I am sorry for your loss - see how inadequate these words from a stranger sound...?
Whatever seems to work for you and your wife to survive is good and right, even if it is just a video game.

My children are the center of my universe. I live every day trying to measure up to their needs and expectations, and I fear for their health and safety above all else. My deepest condolences for your loss, Thomas. I hope that you find your daughter out amongst the stars.

I cannot say it any better than this. I came close to this situation when my son was diagnosed with a debilitating and life-threatening bone disease at a age 5. Until this was proven to be a wrong diagnosis several weeks later - and his condition proved to be fully curable - I went through the worst time in my life. I would not want to imagine what a parent goes through if they actually lose a child.

My condolences and great to hear that ED can give you some much needed distraction from your grief.

You have my deepest sympathies, as a father myself who has gone through the loss of a child all I can say in time you learn to work through it. The memories and thoughts will always be there and there will be times when emotions will just come from nowhere but be strong and you have my deepest sympathies.

I am glad you are enjoying Elite Dangerous, I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Can't imagine what you are going though :(. See you out in the void Commander on the road to Elite!

Damn...

Really not much one could say there.

All I can say is that a while ago, I went through a personal loss as well - and the Game in all its glory and with all its flaws did an outstanding job helping me over that hard time.

All the best wishes to the OP, stay strong and keep moving forward.

As a father i dont even know and cant imagine how it's even possible to carry on after such a terrible loss, the strength you and your wife display can only be compared to the energy output of the brightest stars and supergiants in the galaxy. I'm glad that you find comfort in Elite and that this great game helps you keeping up the strenght. Find me ingame if you wanna do some multicrew fun and have fun on comms. You found a great community here!

As a parent, I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through. Although far inadequate, my deepest heartfelt condolences to you and your whole family. I'm glad you're able to find some moments of peace through this wonderful game and community. Fly safe, Commander. o7

I just wanted to take a minute to thank you guys for your work, and to let you know how Elite has helped me lately. My six month old daughter unexpectedly passed away in her sleep at daycare a month ago. Obviously my wife and I are completely crushed.

First I would like to extend my deepest sympathies.

As a fellow parent I can't even phantom the pain you and your wife are going through.

If you ever need another parent (and Elite gamer) to talk too please don't hesitate to contact me.

God Bless,

Grey

I'm not a parent, so I can't even imagine your loss. You have my sympathy.

One little thing. Another player managed to get a small addition to the game from a similar situation. The rare good Shan's Charis Orchid, available from Baird Gateway in the Arque system has the following description:
Named after its discoverer's late baby daughter, this rare and delicate member of the Orchidaceae family is famed for its short but spectacular flowering and for its exquisite aroma which lingers long in the memory after the flower itself has faded.

My six month old daughter unexpectedly passed away in her sleep at daycare a month ago. Obviously my wife and I are completely crushed. In an effort to try and distract myself, I downloaded Elite onto my PS4 and fired it up. It has done more for me in dealing with my grief than I can really explain. It’s been just enough to distract me, yet engage me enough to think over my grief and try to work through it. Doing exploring missions is relaxing and soothing, which is what I’ve really needed lately. I’m tearing up right now just thinking about it.
Thanks again for all your work. You never know when you begin a project, how it will impact people down the line one day, and yours has done more than I could ever thank you for. Thank you so much.

EDIT: Thank you commanders for all of your kind words. It means a lot.

As a father of two, I couldn't even imagine the pain and anguish that you and your wife must feel. You have my deepest and sincerest condolences, empathy and sympathies for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. Please don't escape to the disdain of your wife who probably needs you desperately right now. Any distraction though probably helps right now as I lost a sister at a very young age and empathise with your situation. God Bless you sir
