Thank you, Mr Braben

Really i have a i5 pc running a RTX 3060 16GB card and 64gb memory, im getting between 60- 80frps mine runs smooth as anything my gaming rig cost over £2k and my screen is ASUS 1440mhz which i specially bought to play EDO
Happy to know a GPU 2 GENERATIONS higher than recommended is running the game at 60fps ! One currently sold at 600-700€ (lowest price ATM) where I live. I can't wait to see what the 40XX GPU will do with Odyssey, they might run it at 120 fps, like Horizon on a 1060 !
Also 5times more ram than recommended, but I'll let that one slide.
I have EDH on XB1X which i do exploring and I play EDO on my gaming rig where ive just made Trade Elite, so all this moaning from console players either get a pc or just enjoy EDH, either one is great.
Hear hear ! Stop whining console peasants, and spend a few thousands €/$ in a new PC in a GPU starved world !

Truly, you're the one to blame for that situation. You should be ashamed to have forced Lord Braben (praised be His Name) to make such an announcement.

I'd go full Bazmeson. I feel I owe you all at least that much.

Just saying... he never quit.

I join in. I generally think the desire to release Odyssey on last generation consoles is a mistake. Odyssey deserves and deserves better! And only on PC can the engine be refined to realize quality, modern effects and textures.

Space should be beautiful!

If you can’t make a game that runs well on Series X or PS5, you are bad at making games

I don't really care as console player if i would need to buy a new copy for PC.
But I care about the progress from hundreds, or even thousands of hours i spent on my console commander.

I don't want to loose that progress on a "forced" migration to PC.
Bingo.

I have both PC and Console versions of the game, and in fact started ON PC initially, moved to console because i liked the idea of playing the game from my couch. I guess in hindsight I should have hooked up my PC to my TV instead and "played from the couch"on the PC. Anyway, water under the bridge. The only thing I really need to do is finance a graphics card upgrade and I probably could play the game on recommended settings for Odyssey. However the thing that keeps me from dropping the money for that upgrade now is the lack of the save transfer. I'm not going to go out of my way to finance this if I'm ultimately just going to start over. Not with all the progress I made, and a Fleet Carrier .

If they can transfer everything, and I mean everything. Then I'll jump back over to PC.

Only the work was done with past gen consoles, that is, the PS4, not the PS5.
No they can't make it work on Series X or PS5 either. There was a user that compared the specs of last gen, current gen and the specs of Odyssey and last gen was a stone cold, no way, and current gen was big maybe. The problem is the fact the Cobra engine doesn't cull geometry or other optimization features which honestly, how the hell can you make an engine that doesnt use some of the most basic optimization features but whatever. The point is, because it doesn't, even the Series X and PS5 would have problems running it.
