Thanks alot ED for ruining piracy!!!!!!!!!!

Its just you....BTW, where do you fit the interdictor?

Piracy pays well in PVE if you hunt for low temp diamonds, but yeah you have to be able to pick them up though before they turn into space dust(the reason for this thread), never tried PVP piracy so cant say much about that(did once, but my victim only carried animal meat:p)...

Never played anything but OPEN, been blown up 2 times since the game came out and that was before I learned howto run, OPEN is pretty safe if you ask me, most commanders I meet go on about their own bizniss and some occasionnaly says "hi" in the chat, even met some that i added in my friends list. No, keep open as it is, its supposed to be dangerous, not some kind of great gathering where we all sing combaya and hug trees, we got mobius for that kind of thing...

it has 3x class 4 and 3x class 2? you do not really need a higher class limpets or interdictor?

Ok, so I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. It might sound super complicated at first, but if you REEEAAALLY put your mind to it, you'll be able to understand the concept behind it. Perhaps you could use the limpet on the target when they get closer to death? Maybe 25% would be good, or even 15%? Attack, limpet, kill, collect. I believe in you!

I'll let you into a little secret, after starting this thread, I tried to adapt, now I took my victims hull down to 3 percent, then launced the hatch breakers, used 3 to make sure he's hold was emptied then killed him, the cargo was at 90 percent hull when I started collecting, got 5 low temp diamond cargo before the rest blew up, around 10,,,, I dont believe you!, even if you beleive in me...

Before this patch i was able to start hatch breaking after the victim shields was down, fight him for a minute before starting collecting, I was able to pick it all up before the canisters hull was down to 10 percent.... Something has changed for sure. I was living of piracy, bought all my upgrades and ships with it, I was succesful. Now i barely can afford limpets and paying repairs for my ship!!!

Lol, this is exactly how my setup looks like, now where is my 2 collectors? Now you do realise you cant have 2 collector limpets activated in a class 2 compartment? So only way to have 2 collectors activated, it has to go in a class 4 compartment, and that means I have to sacrifice my shields, wich I would never do, would cut too much into my profit because these trader NPC's do shoot back ya know...

So the problem is.....what? you do not need two active with how slow the whole thing is? just park near and wait?

Geeze louise, have you actually read what im been trying to say all this time, 1 collector is to slow, so most of the cargo blows up before it finish collecting, even with 2 active collectors i wouldnt get all the cargo and that is when i start collecting when the canister has around 90 percent hull left, wich makes the cobra mk 3 useless for piracy because it can only carry 1 collector. I guess if one is contemt with collecting 5 low temps diamonds while the other 10 blows up infront of u, its all good. But for me that really sucks donkey balls, especially after spending time following a target out of high sec into a low sec area, amd also these low temp diamond traders doesnt exactly grow on trees, so it takes time to find them too..

So basicly, park near and wait for the cargo to blow up, this is how it is now. Im literally crying seing all my effort turning into spacedust..

Well i leave it like that, im now, in lack of a career turned into a cold blooded murderer hanging in erevate killing noobs, this is what I turned into, a lowlife, bitter ex pirate just mad at everything in this game, somehow, what im doing now actually helps in my frustration..It feels great, im feeling im actually achiving something, atleast now im succesful at what i do...

As if all this wasnt enough, they made interdicting anything above novice impossible... looks like they do anything in their power too kill piracy...

See, that's the bit they really need to fix with how limpets work. For piracy or just mining in sketchy places or gathering materials in active warzones. Ideally we'd just do away with limpets and install a tractor beam analogue instead, something like a magnetic grappler on a steel cable that fires out from the cargo hatch onto targeted canisters while we're still moving. It can still take as long as the limpets do to reel in cargo but at least we can be in motion while this is happening.

I tried collecting engineer mats while fighting in a CZ last night, and it just wasn't on. Running in an Anaconda with pips to shields and the cargo hatch open means I wasn't going anywhere fast, and it was only in lulls between waves of enemy forces dropping in that the limpets would survive long enough to grab 2 or 3 bits before something firing at me hit them.
Oh and another thing I found while out with the Anaconda, you can't open the cargo hatch with the fighter deployed, I had to recall it before my limpets would return anything. It didn't stop the limpets deploying, mind, so the cargo hatch could still be briefly opened, another reason a grappler launcher would be a good thing to add there.

Another thing that'd be fun for piracy with the grappler? Imagine being able to fire it at another ship and latch on, and if your engines are more powerful than theirs, bring them to a stop so you can get at their cargo hatch or just demand their surrender.
Something like this will be necessary for boarding activities when walkies mode comes anyway, might as well get the foundation in place now.

I do think dropped items decay way too fast. They should last like 10 minutes. I was attacked and they hit my hatch spilling some of my cargo... I killed them and they dropped materials. I barely managed to pick up my stuff and got none of the materials from them.

Get collector limpets and send them out for the cargo as soon as it drops .. all you have to do is slow down when they return.

Well... yeah, but you have to slow down to practically nothing or the cargo explodes.

I really think they need to make cargo held by collector limpets invincble while held by them so you can fly around while your collectors come drop off cargo.

Got damn, finally one that seems to think the same as me, I would be contemt with 5 minutes, but ok make it 10 and I would be in heaven... Thank you

Lol i just blow up CMDR's and then talk smack afterwards :p

That's true Piracy!!!

But i can also wussy pirate by using HBLC and then kill the target. Afterward the Cargo in question is at about 70-80 hull. Sooo all i can really help you with is.... well....

"GET GOOD"

It's annoying how every single NPC reboots after you plant them

"oh you disabled my power plant and then my thrusters? LOL REBOOT"

There should be a "surrender or I blow you to bits" option. Use it, either the NPC drops half his cargo and gets the hell out or he takes his chances causing a fight, like it is now. Simples.

They shoot the cargo hatch but they are not very good at it :p

plus , I imagine the code for such advanced AI being very hard to code in

From what I hear, one of the Devs, Sara Jane, I believe it was (but I'm not completely sure) said that if they let them (that dev) have free reign, we wouldn't have a chance against AI.

Well for me its gonna help blow out some steam before I leave this game for good, and its my way of saying screw you frontier(remember the game made me a killer in the first place by having to kill NPC before I could collect their cargo), If there was a way for me too kill David Braben ingame I would have gone for that, but I cant, so I kill some of he's sheeps instead...

Also I actually deleted my previous account so my new one(stats) would reflect me going 100 percent pirate, and it was all good before this patch dropped, now I can barely even afford new limpets, I was doing great with piracy before this update. I don't want to switch proffesion, piracy is what i liked playing most, the other proffesions I found boring.... So I just gonna quit the game(after killing a dozen noob commanders in the starting systems). Right now my goal is to create as much anger as possible..

Yep. Play the game your way. Only then they go and make it where you can't. Oh I guess you can, but there's no way to make money at the way you want to play.

Then why do we have the hatch breaker limpets, cargo scanner,,,?, and the smuggler stats?, cmon, piracy is ingame and the tools too do it aswell and its a perfecly legit role in elite but it has always been neglected, and now totally ruined.... The smuggling nerf is bull, i agree(probably because frontier want to force us to play their new feature, just like they forced grinding enginers just to survive in open)...

I survive quite nicely in open and I'm in a low level un-modded Adder. I've been killed by NPC's a lot more than I've been killed by players. I hardly ever see players but when I do I scan them and if they appear to be more experienced than new players, I put my tail between my legs and run like a yeller dog (with his tail between his legs :D )

They don't reboot when I plant them. Of course they don't have time cause I keep pounding that plant until they go BOOM. Especially the Anacondas. They make such a lovely light. But that was in an earlier incarnation. My current ship, the an Adder, as I was saying earlier doesn't take on more than it can handle. It's a mouse, not a cat. And yes, I cleared my save.

Its easy to keep the ship disabled... but the weapons bug is the annoying thing...

If you want to keep the ship disabled just be under it with a single pulse aimed for the pp... the moment it turn 1% you shoot it... right now i have a firegroup with both collector and hatch breaker in the same trigger and the single pulse on the other... very effective! just remember to have another firegroup just for the collector .
