Horizons Thanks To The Devs

Every now and then I like to stop and thank Dave and the Devs.

I know there is a section of the community that will never be happy, I think they are looking for some end game content so they can "finish" ED.

I do not see the game this way, its about playing and having fun, I could be dog fighting with my son (AN ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE) or I might be exploring, Mining (not much monetary value in this at the moment), Running cargo for a CG.

I have recently down graded from an AspX to a DBX, The asp was great but she is a fat old girl and her momentum when turning led to more than one unintended roid/ship impact.

Over the last week I have been flying around the crashed alien ship looking for other debris ect, I ran into a couple of other commanders there and had a chat.

I don't get a lot of time to play, my time is split between 8 to 10 hour days at work, being a dad, being a husband and so on but this game never fails to make me think Dam this is cool.

Station radio calling me in "Echo Delta Mike" hehehe i only clicked to this about a month ago NOICE...

I want to thank you Dave and the Devs, I always sucked at the old Elite on the C64 and then the Atari 1040STFM. I was young and can probably count the number of times I successfully dock on my fingers and toes.

But now I get to do so much, yes it can be a very very very lonely universe but that's to be expected out on the rim.

Yes it can get frustrating at times and there are some things i really want to see added (compass in OC *cough cough*).

But dam its a beautiful game and the Dogfights with my son are incredible.

So Thank you from the bottom of my cargo bay.

I'm not bothered or even intent on "finishing the game" I'm just playing it a few hours a day to pass time and have a lil fun along the way I guess. So far have put in about 90 hours. I mostly deliver stuff and don't bounty hunt, mine or anything else. I do do some exploration in the SRV for chits and giggles though.

Have got "Merchant" rank but not affiliated with any faction or fraternity for points or prizes. I think the devs have done a tremendous job with this title, it has been well thought out through and through and is a fantastic space game, absolutely fantastic. Let some of the moaners and haters play on a Commodore 64 for a couple of weeks, they don't even know they're born today.

I have to throw another 2ps worth in this - it's not just the devs but the support side has been out standing during the times I've had issues. There are bugs still - a lot of them in all honesty but overall, Elite is beautifull in its appearence, brilliant and frustrating in its gameplay and yes for me addictive.

So dear sirs, I tip my hat off to you folks, one an all.

V2k.

Me too, I'll add my own pennies to the 'good job', and add on the community team and especially the volunteer mods.

Despite my moaning, at its core ED is a good game, and the sound design beyond amazing.

A penny for your thoughts. I throw my 2 cents in. Where's the change? Somewhere someone stole my penny.

Can't say a thing but good thoughts when it comes to moments with your child playing games. A moment many wish they could have but never will. Enjoy it, you're lucky.

I've only been playing Horizons (and E: D) for a couple of months, and I'm enjoying it very much! Whilst I'm mostly hauling cargo to get enough credits to get a couple of decent ships, the ability to do varied things within the game is a testament to the developers. It integrates very well, looks awesome, and sounds fantastic!

What I really like about this game is the feeling of absolute freedom. I can do what I want to. If I want certain engineering commodities, I can choose where and when to take the missions -- I am not being driven to do them by a story. (I really liked X3, aside from some minor things (such as the horrible decision to quadruple the weapons on most heavy fighters, but NOT adapting the corvettes' turrets), but some of the missions really drove me up the wall.)
