Still waiting for that fellar
That one is naked. Now imagine it in a biomechanical combat suit. Feet with a gripping surface that allows it to walk on walls, able to jump over buildings and run across uneven ground. A weapon in its front claws that can shoot an energy beam, organic shrapnel or caustic mines at soldiers on foot. A pair of wing-like protrusions on the back where it can shoot caustic missiles in a high arc across the battlefield either at ships or SRVs. And a flower-like protusion out its back where it can launch a swarm of small Thargons to flush out enemies from behind cover or pursue them into buildings. A versatile biomechanical shock trooper equal to a whole squad of elite soldiers. Now that's an enemy worth all the high end gear.

Of course we'll see nothing of this as its mini EM pulse generator goes off disabling our suit lights and night vision and all we hear is screams of terror as our team mates are ripped to shreds.
Then it comes for us.........*

Bill

*Where upon we realise that the suit upgrade we really should have used is the one for increased waste capacity........

Nothing, if you know that's what everyone wants? You think no one will just complain they've ripped off Starship Troopers and lack imagination?

That's not why I've said they're not doing it, it's simply my opinion that a large proportion of those who have been waiting will be disappointed because it won't live up to their expectations. I base this opinion on 9 years of watching this place moan about literally anything and everything :)

I am glad you at least have inside knowledge and know why they're not actually doing them though.

Some reused drones is not exactly a demonstration of creativity, and precisely these stupidities are what cause disappointment, EVERYTHING in the world of science fiction has already been invented, but you can combine styles to make something that attracts attention. watch how starfield created a style called "Nasa Punk" and learn.

There is no good argument if you defend the indefensible

The drones aren't entirely reused. While they are probably based off of skimmers, it's clear the AI works fairly differently with them actively searching settlements for humans, and the swarming hive mind mechanic they're not going to be as easy to deal with as typical humans since you can avoid groups with mobility.

I mean you've seen one video of them at distance, in the dark, and you already somehow know they're reused Drones. If you show me one other form of media that already has the Revenant model, then maybe I'll believe you. Thargoid design has always seemed pretty unique to me.

As for Starfield, the space suit looks just like Returnal. Must mean they reused it and therefore have no imagination I guess 🤷‍♂️

Now I'm wondering how would the revenant light cones look like during the day.

As mentioned in the message that I was removed (which didn't violate any rules)
Personally, I don't have a problem with model reuse and I appreciate new content after a long time.
but I repeat, don't defend the indefensible, people are annoyed that you reused the same models instead of creating a new Thargoid and that's what causes them disappointment. (We all know what's expected, it's not a big deal either)

1. Don't discuss moderation actions (it is in the forum rules)

2. I haven't done anything. I don't work for Frontier.

What same models though? That comment still doesn't make sense. You've not seen one close up (though you may have done by now) You don't know what they look like properly, they certainly don't seem like any Thargoid I've encountered in game.

Something that is strived for in life, or movie and game design is being able to make recognisable traits that are universal to a species or culture. Whether it's Knights on a battlefield wearing the same armour, or sects having a tell so others are recognisable, or being able to tell whether a ship is Minmatar or Gallente, Federal or Imperial from just looking at it.

Having something that is recognisable as a Thargoid, without being the same as other Thargoids in the game currently isn't reusing models. If you're just upset they didn't do on foot Thargoids then that's a different thing entirely.

I'm sorry, but what part of what I said was not understood: "model reuse doesn't bother me and new content is appreciated".
Whether it's reused or not, I don't care.
I'm just mentioning why a lot of people are disappointed... Not me.

Oh I'm sorry I thought you calling the design stupid and "watch how starfield created a style called "Nasa Punk" and learn."

and your repeatedly saying

"There is no good argument if you defend the indefensible"

meant you weren't happy with the update. I didn't realise that you like it and are just being aggressive on other people's behalf.
