PvP Thargoid hunting season is finished

You can think there is RP or there is not, it doesnt matter as long as one plays within the rules of the game.
There is nothing wrong in killing other cmdrs from whatever reason or lack of, since the game advertises and encourages it.

You do know that you're starting to sound like a broken record, right? "Or just hunt other commanders." There. Saved you from typing it.

Now, the issue of RP is a different one. To some it does matter, and to others it's just an excuse to kill the other side, in whichever situation they're in.

I guess the main question for me in situations like this is: Are you playing the game? Or are you playing the player?

This game has PVP in it, you do understand that right?

Was this meant to be funny? They didn't even have the right weapons to fight back and it seemed like they didn't even realise you were shooting them in the back until it was too late. Is this supposed to be PvP?

Its entirely their fault, both their ships are combat oriented that cost at least 3 times more than mine. All they needed to do is high wake.

And this is not a new thing from players of the same playstyle

MurderHoboing is very allowed in this game. It's RP per se, it doesn't even need another layer of RP on top of it, like the one OP provided. At most I'd say his RPing the Tharg Protector is more of a propaganda for his playstyle. It worked for me.

Alad's backstory grew while I played him. How other people play is up to them of course, but I suspect roleplaying is for some a justification to

And since they already can do whateva they want, the role is irrelevant. But again, it's up to them, not me, their game, not mine.

RP consistency goes both ways. Actually it's a three-way thing. It's not right for Algo to use it to justify killing CMDRs but it's OK to justify getting your Corvette and Cutter (farming ranks for opposing major factions) or your Prismatics and bounty hunting bonuses (applying to opposite Powers in PP) or being a White Knight some times, other times a Smuggler… the game itself encourages inconsistency when RPing.

I guess my catching point is that role play requires, by definition, some "play." Dropping into a NHSS and fragging all the hollow triangles without so much as a peep isn't anything more than (as much as the term skeeves me out) non-consensual PvP. Dropping into a NHSS and sending a message into LOCAL chat stating that you are member of the Protectional Effort for Thargoidian Alliance and that should CMDR's currently engaged in hostility not stow their hardpoints and highwake out of the system, they will be fired on in the next fifteen seconds, that, friends, is RP.

But that's not what was done here.

And like Ziggy said earlier, the same crowd has decided, in the past, to do this same thing. It's not RP, it's the thinnest of veils covering their standard modus operandi; greifing.

Griefing is an overused word in these forums, most times it's used for describing valid gameplay. We're at war, no person enters a NHSS in order to kill bugs and says: "Surrender or die, Thargs. We have you surrounded"… that would be laughable. Let the guns do the talking.

That's a silly meme I've seen around. If I go to a NHSS in order to kill CMDRs, am I playing the game or the player? The game, obviously! If I find it boring to kill NPCs and it's more interesting to kill CMDRs, what's wrong with that? Let me be the broken record here too, and say "or hunt other commanders".

Because FD advertised this functionality in ED, it's supposed to work here ( although it's quirky at best), so why not?

Oh yes I do, but it looks like you are going after Cmdrs. you know are setup for thargoid hunting......so you are looking for soft targets then?

When real PVPers look for a fight, it's because they want a challenge.....so I thought.
But judging from that video, you don't want/need anyone that is ready for a PVP fight.

Soft targets=easy button kills. smh

Roll play? more like excuse just to get easy kills.

How can you get revenge if you have no way of finding them afterwards?

Instant ship transfers would allow people to get revenge more easily.

I know there are several times I wished I had the ability to have my PVP ship for revenge.

And a couple times where I actually waited the hour for it to get transferred hoping to be able to avenge myself.

But thats a whole 'nother can a worms, aint it?

If Algo wants to rp this way then good on him. Crying about it isn't going to stop him. He came on here publicly to warn everyone, so if you're scared of sharks don't swim in the ocean. Imo he's providing more content than I've seen from fdev, and I'd love to see more players doing their own thing.
