Thargoid-Non-Hostility Theory (RP in part)

Thargoid Non-Hostility Theory

The following theory infers that the Thargoid, Cyclops, Basilisk, and Medusa variants of Thargoid Interceptor are not hostile towards independent CMDRs and potentially humanity as a whole.

From the very first sightings of Thargoids through Hyperdicitons it was shown that the Thargoids were not at first hostile, in these encounters they simply scanned us, and were on there way, and the way I see it not much has changed. I have sat in instances with countless Thargoids, of all variants (Apart from Scouts) to the same response, they will not attack, or aggress you without cause.

From my experience sitting with countless Thargoids, in both space wreckage, and down on Thargoid Structures, where you would at least assume some form of aggression to intruders would be present? it has become conclusive to me, that the Thargoids do not want to attack, or be apart of a war, and that the hostility only comes from human aggression and misplacement. The Thargoids only seem to become instinctively hostile upon certain circumstances 1: That you attack them first giving them a reason to fight back. 2: You get too close to them forcing them to glow red and deploy Thargons and 3 : If you are in possession of Thargoid related items, or items Thargoids are interested in.

As a result, the number of convoys of Imperial and Federal nature scattered through space, on which entering the instances reveals a Thargoid scanning the wreckage through my conclusion must of attacked the Thargoids first, or were carrying Thargoid related items, in this case Thargoid Probes, Sensors and Links of which the Thargoid can be seen to collect. Starports originally in the Pleiades region that were attacked had access to Aegis labs, which after releasing AX weaponry that CMDRs used to attack the Thargoids. The destruction of these Starports was out of human aggravation as well as a statement to humanity. In the beginning the selection of stations had importance due to Aegis labs, the primary source of aggravation towards the Thargoids. But as humanity have continued to ‘punish’ the Thargoids for their doings Thargoids have retaliated, attacking more stations for the same reasons, and have attacked other human vessels such as Megaships for much the same reason. It is the declaration of war that the powers of humanity have determined and influenced that have caused the continual aggression and attacks throughout the bubble. It is Aegis at core that are largely responsible.

To back the theory further after visiting several attacked Aegis planetary labs and mining stations, it has become more apparent that each of these facilities had an encounter with a Thargoid/Alien structure and Artifact before being attacked, experimenting on probes, and uncovering structures underground, it was these events led by humans that led to the attacks on these facilities. Not Thargoid aggression, Human experimentation and possession of Thargoid related items, as stated previously. Even the crashed Anaconda of the CMDR Clark Barrow to openly attack a Thargoid causing it to retaliate it supports the previously conclusion, reinforcing the theory that Humans were the aggressors whether we realise it or not..

As for the Thargoid scouts it is unclear in their purpose, as another theory has pointed out, they seem to be much older than the Interceptor Variants and are thus potentially from the old war, and have an outdated protocol which causing their hostile nature, and seem to influence the behaviour of the Interceptor in the same instance.

This is pretty much what I've been saying. Only difference I thought of is in regard to the Scouts. Since the Scouts only appeared after hostilities towards the Thargoids increased, through things such as Operation Andronicus, maybe the Scouts are just there as retaliation. Just because the Thargoids might have started out being nonhostile doesn't mean they'd stay that way as we continue blowing them up.
