Newcomer / Intro Thargoid scouts and interceptors

I am at an instance and I have been killing off some interceptors. The bar is not even half full and all we get right now are scouts, which are easy kills and also easy to keep up with. They spawn, they're dead . Good for the war effort, but I was wondering why no interceptors are showing up.

Are we killing off scouts too fast? Does that have anything to do with it?

Or is it time for me to go back to a HazRES for the action ...

It varies. Sometimes instances break / bug out -- that can manifest in several ways:
  • when you keep killing stuff and the progress bar doesn't advance, Can be hard to tell bc scouts advance the progress bar so little anyway.
  • or when nothing spawns anymore at all. Usually in that case there's some bugged invisible and invincible enemy somewhere, that can't be destroyed and therefore the next wave can't be triggered.

Also, instances are just randomly different. Some only spawn a small handful of Cyclopes and then it's scouts all the way. Others flood you with Medusas and Hydras early on. Some spawn Cyclops after Cyclops; I think my record was 25 in one instance. So, if you don't like the instance you're in at one point... leave and start a new one. ;)

I have noticed differences. How like on ground stations the swarm does not spawn, which is a welcome feature to just have to concentrate on the interceptor.
The "bugs" you mention I have seen. I just wondered if there is a relation between scouts and interceptors.

Rinse and repeat I guess, but that bar needs to be filled up for progress I would assume.

Yeah, but actually - as opposed to classical CZs - nothing special happens when you complete an instance, there's no message popping up, no operator announcing that you've driven them back or anything, and afaik no final bonus payment either. When the bar is full it's full and that's it; scouts may keep spawning but there'll be no more ceptors.

Conversely, completing instances doesn't seem to have any special effect for the war effort either -- it just seems to track the sheer number of destroyed thargoids.
And we certainly assume that interceptors count for a lot more than scouts but we have no way of knowing how much. Could be that it's proportional to the bond value, but who can say.
