Thargoid war - what now?

if I remove all my cabins and cargo racks from my Python and fill them with 5D reinforcements, I end up with 4943 normal vs. 4973 with guardian stuff (at 26.5% resistance). But the raw armour is only 3655 vs. the 4973 of the HD/DP ones. Is all Thargoid damage caustic, or is the caustic part just the worst of it?

yes but they always had the 5% caustic resistance. If I swap out all the heavy duty/deep plating HRPs of my rescue Python with guardian HRPs (in theory, doing it on EDSY), I still end up with 200 less caustic armour.
My Viper IV has slightly less integrity than if it had HD/DP reinforcements, but is lighter and faster with Guardian ones. It will probably pop just as fast regardless of what reinforcements it was packing, I'm sure. ;)
Has that changed?
I don't imagine so.

Aw, crap … so I should go unlock the Guardian Hull Reinforcement stuff and load up my new AX ship with those instead?!

EDIT I have one remaining Guardian module blueprint … what are the chances I have the rest of the stuff needed?!!
Wow … had everything bar the Reinforced Mounting Wotsits … which were easy to buy and I now have the Guardian HRPs unlocked!

How many do I need? All of them or just a couple?!!

My Python would be only marginally faster - a few meters per second.
Of course, as a percentage of overall weight the effect is minimal.
Now I am confused. Clearly, I have no idea about all those mechanics attached to Thargoid combat...
I have no idea, so it is a great starting place. I've never wanted to fight by the numbers, won't start now. But I shall have fun experimenting.

I am also now confused … I’m glad I have options now … and I haven’t fully engineered (only G4 and G3) my standard HRPs … so perhaps Guardian ones WILL be better … although I’m not sure I have the juice to power ‘em …

Sitting at the Tech Broker and waiting for my AX FAX to transfer over so I can see what my options are. IIRC, my G3 2D HRP was giving about 260 integrity and the Guardian version is 238 but with 2% Thermal / 5% Caustic resists ... so it may be worth switching out my smaller (2D and 3D) HRPs - on which I have lower engineering - but keeping the two 5D HRPs which I've got well into G4 territory.

Question about fighting the goids, if i hope into a low level conflict zone and pop a few of those guys that don't have swarms, and then run for my life when the bigger C's show up, does that register in terms of the simulation and the impact of peoples? reason I ask is that the conflict zone doesn't 'complete' and the bar doesn't fill up because I high tail it early. Does that still count though?

Good question … if you’re completing missions and turning in bonds, presumably those will still count for something?

Completed missions would i guess since they are 'finalized' and register, but helping out in a conflict zone before the battle is won would be different i imagine.

Well, just made my 'first' rescue run to the Lopez-Alegria Works in Matshiru with a new Dolphin build.

I say 'first' as I had kitted it out with economy cabins, made my way through a hyperdiction, then an interdiction, and arrived to find I needed cargo holds. Much swearing, then undocking, flying to the nearest station with cargo holds, swapping out and flying back again.

Picked up 60 escape pods and took them to the Rescue Ship Bertschinger in Tarach Tor.

Very nice NPC did fix my hull and canopy with a repair limpet on exiting Lopez-Alegria Works, so that was cool.

Probably head back there in a bit and grab some more unfortunates...

Funnily enough I've just ran a few trips to the same outpost with my keelback equipped with economy cabins and found loads of passenger missions. Did a few cargo runs before that.

You'd think there would be a selection of both, given the hassle of running a blockade and swapping for appropriate 'storage'.

If I go back again and find I now need passenger cabins, I shall be a bit peeved...

Out of curiosity, how many passengers can you carry with it? I tried to take passengers from an outpost and was surprised to find that all passenger missions started at 36+ passengers. No chance to fit a single mission in my Cobra. Most missions were in a the 90s. Is there something I'm missing here about the cabins - economy class 4 take 8 passengers, right?

Seems a bit odd to balance missions to exclude small ships - actually a lot of ships.

I haven't optimised my keelie so she only carries 38 economy passengers.

The last run I did was 2 missions, a 25 and a 10 person.

As far as I know, there are missions for both; mission board and passenger mission board.

If there isn't, I suspect a bug and would relog.

I went to Obassi Osaw with passengers cabins and found only escape pod missions … although I now realise I didn’t actually check the correct mission board so it was probably just me being an idiot. 😂
In which case, I'll be an idiot as well, as I just realised that I looked under transportation missions, as opposed to the passenger lounge.

Duh...

Never mind, I'll handle the non walking wounded, for now.
