Thargoids Are Stealing Bodies!

So, I was checking out the Bug Killer anaconda crash site and drove out to the dead srv and as I pulled up I spotted an occupied escape pod on the ground. Before I could go rescue this poor, wayward soul a thargoid ship shows up and tractor beams the escape pod up into it's ship and then flies away. Thargoids are stealing people! Has anyone else seen something like this?

I dread to think what they are doing to them, could be either using them as guinea pigsfor experiments, or reconstructing them as drones to sabotage humanity from the inside, or maybe more benevolently merely rescuing and returning them to humanity, like Jasmina Halsey 's life altering rescued by aliens experience?

I found the scene with the tractor beam pretty awesome.
Also when i got to the Bug killer site for the first time and the Thargs popped in... well it scared the ship out of me. :LOL:
Literally, the first thing i did was to dismiss the ship that was parked nearby

And in 3307 we might possibly find out why they do that...but no sooner.

I heard of some CMDRs actively feeding them with Imperial slaves, for whatever reason...

Well dang, I've been playing elite for over a year but just joined the forums. I should have done this earlier, just think of all the neat stuff I missed out on hearing about

Pretty much yeah... and the soft, meaty stuff inside makes a reasonable food supplement for thargoid larvae

They're just getting desperate since we kicked them out of the bubble, don't worry about it. Bob (that's the guy you saw them picking up) is going to burst out of that escpae pod shouting 'die mother b***hes!!!' and blow them all away with a small AX multicannon he has in his back pocket.

I thought he'd been locked up in Ross 126 after last time he was caught doing this sort of thing.

They pick up any humanoid cargoes. this includes, but is not limited to:
  • Escape Pods
  • Slaves/Imperial Slaves
  • Master Chefs
  • Hostages
  • Political Prisoners
... though they won't summon another interceptor for large volumes, like they do for Meta-Alloys or Thargoid items. It's an interesting distinction, as it means their interest in "people" is only passing, and not necessarily a critical path.

Yup!
To unlock the thargoid engineer they need to visit at least 5 galaxies and provide a guardian blue-print and 10 human biowastes (very rare and precious commodity in the Thargoids economy, like the Barnacles for us).
Then a A 5G roll requires:

  • 1 Elite CMDR escape pod
  • 2 Dangerous CMDR escape pods
  • 100 Imperial Slaves
