Thargoids narrative...

Is just absolutely disappointing. The story/whatever this is supposed to be is so dull. The weapons we have been allowed/given to use are trash and makes fighting Thargoids just unbelievably more lame 😒 and time consuming.

But I wish Fronties would just pull their heads out of their fourth point of contact, and deliver to us a magnificent new arsenal that is effective against both humans an Thargoids. Maybe in the form of new engineer upgrades for existing weapon systems... just a thought.

What do you all think about this Thargoid narrative?

The thing about the Thargoids is no one gets it. Fdev don't get and neither do the players. Let me do my best to explain.

Star trek is Space Communism, no money "The needs of the many out weigh the needs of you and your family" etc.

Elite Dangerous is Space Capitalism. You want me to do something? PAY ME WELL FOR IT.

Mining was great in the day but the second the missions and money moved out, I stopped mining. Take a looong look at the gal map. Focus on Maia and the stations near it. They still need fixing. Even stations in the bubble need reparing, why?

Space Capitalism, the stations aren't fixed because there is no profit in it. I did my bit and started shifting cargo to one station, I got ganked by a player. I boosted closer to the station and the security and station did nothing, NOTHING to the player that sent me to rebuy. The profit margins were slim anyway so I wont do that again, Unless you pay me well to do it.

There has to be money to be made killing Thargoids and repairing the mess they leave behind or we wont do it.

I think it fits well with just about everything else in the game in that its okay for a short time and then its the same thing over and over. Oh well, Im enjoying my space legs over in NMS and still periodically enjoy the detail that ED has so Im good.

This is about the 100th thread you've griped about weapons when it comes to fighting the Thargoids. Yet there are plenty of Cmdrs that are fighting them with great success and profiting from it using those very same weapons. The common denominator left in this equation is YOU. Maybe combat just isn't your thing. Why don't you give exploration a go and spare the rest of us from seeing another one of these asinine posts.

It's ok bro we all know how you love to say "yes" and that you view the glass half full instead of half empty. If you're ok with mediocrity then so am I!!! Thank you so much for changing my outlook on Elite with just one simple post. Pure genius post... thanks again.

Yeah... some players always want to take the side of the developers. I think they're the same people that love to give a good gobble every now and again.

Do you need a hug?

I like the way you have to outfit a ship either for thargoids or humans.

I actually think if you made weapon systems enginered for thargoids everybody would just use the same build/ship.

In fairness to Fdev they have got one thing about Thargoids dead right, if you don't want to interact with them you can easily avoid them. I got pulled out my jump on a rescue near Maia. The alien took a good swipe at my paper thin Rat ship and I got away from the encounter and was on my way.
So if you want to fight you can. If not, they aren't an issue

Have you tried the AXI Discord? There is quite an active community dealing with the Thargoid attacks and defending against further destruction. There is an algorithm, the Thargoids aren't just sitting around waiting to be shot. You can engage the Thargoid story and be a part of shaping the map, or you can fly alone. It is one of the pillars of Elite: Dangerous. And why I love the game so much.

The only concern I have is the Power Play leaders being so disconnected from the Thargoid threat. Feels like there should be more to that, outside of "we created Aegis to fight the aliens, so we're good now".

I know... Thargoids are pretty cool. But, I personally just can't seem to get immersed in the fight because I'm stuck using ww2 style weapons (excluding the guardian stuff) to fight these things.

I'm just wondering if anyone else feels the same way about this situation.

Somehow I dont think any .50 BMG would do anything against a Thargoid, but that doesnt mean I wouldnt fly a P47 to fight one :p
I dont mind the AX weapons, they look unique and can be used well with a bit of piloting skill.

Yeah, we need faction ships to actually join the fight when Commanders go up against Thargoids, perhaps even something bigger arriving to deliver the killing blow.

Basically quit playing
Lack of story or anything worth while occurring for so long is just way to boring. Can't stop the goid attacks in the bubble and refitting the ship all the time is just dumb. Along with grinding the guardian modules out.

PvP is straight up borked

The Thargoids were my last hope for this but once you seen them. Meh? What else is there to do. Blow them up again and again? Come on....

Ruin sites are same. Quick sight seeing tour and never back again.

Lasers, plasma accelerators and railguns were around in WW2? Your comparison is weak at best. Please think of a better one to show your displeasure at the weapons.

That said, I do agree that the thargoids story is pretty bland. I do not enjoy combat in elite. But there is no real other way to help against them short of trucking in repair materials. Which we’re expected to do basically as charity. Ultimately, more options for dealing with them would be welcome.
