Thats it!

Sorry but I lack sympathy on this occasion. Never fly without insurance. Like you, I aimed for the Python. On the way I lost several ships, sometimes to dodgy mechanics, others I lacked skill or knowledge and occasionally I was over zealous and lost. All insured and not a big deal, because stressing over losing stuff in a game isn't fun. The little extra time and patience paid off and I haven't lost a ship since the Python purchase a couple of months ago. Simply don't buy a ship until you can afford to fit it reasonably well and insure it. The game has a 10 year development schedule, there's no rush. :)

I'm not going to ridicule the OP, just express sympathy for the fact it took until he was in a Python before one of the games harshest lessons smacked him in the face.

Yes, in this game you can lose it all.

To avoid this situation, two rules apply - firstly, don't fly what you can't afford to lose. That's the most direct lesson from this incident. Being able to "afford losing it" means a minimum of 2x(rebuy ship and replace cargo). If you can't afford that, don't trade up hulls or buy that upgraded module yet.

The second rule is less direct - DONT SPEED IN THE NFZ - particularly not in a new ship that you're not used to how it handles yet and may hit stuff. the scan&ram cop is a bug, but if you weren't speeding you'd have been fine. Even when the dumb plod bounced off your hull because he was too focused on the donut crumbs in his lap and went boom, YOU wouldn't have committed a crime and the station wouldn't have opened fire.

Please, could someone tell OP to fly with enough Cr to rebuy the ship, and also not to speed close to a station?

How did you rationalise making the same mistakes in a Python as you already did in a Type 6 is my question.

It's all been said. If you hadn't been speeding and/or had insurance, we wouldn't be here would we?

YouTube videos trend this week report:
decreasing:
- from sidewinder to anaconda in 24h
increasing:
- from anaconda to The Division in 20min.

Finally i had enough... been grinding my way up to the Pyton... gues what a ramming Police npc slammed me in the gate of Ray gateway. then all the cannons startet fireing like crazy and about 1 sec later BOOM. now back at 0 cr...

Thats just it for me.... wasted 200 hours of grinding and had the fun for not even 30 sec. these npc's need to stop the ramming in the intrances to docks..... im out.... have fun

Raise a ticket maybe FD will have pity on you and give you the Python back

There is death penalty for ramming? When police rammed me, I got off with with 200 cr fine. To think I was complaining about it, when there is Judge Dredd out there..

200 hours and you still haven't learnt the one golden rule of elite, never fly without insurance.

Flying without insurance probably means you deserve to be flying a sidey. And doubly so if you're a "grinder" - you're just going to complain when you discover there's no end game. Best quit now.

Guys, give him a break. Most of us that weren't old-school Elite players came into this game and didn't get that one, just one mistake, could blow you right back to the beginning of your entire gameplay. That really isn't a common thing in games these days. Most of the ones that didn't know it learned it in a hauler or a Cobra. This guy was a good enough pilot he made it all the way to a Python before the wheels came off. Give him props for that, give him sympathy for the loss and he has learned his lesson.

Why waste 200 hours of grinding by a) speeding and b) leaving the station without rebuy. The reason the cop was speeding, by the way, was to match your velocity to scan.

Whilst I feel your pain, in the process of that 200 hours of grinding, this cannot have been the only time you have been hit by a wayward ship. Chalk it up to impatience to have a shiny new ship, combined with a lack of clarity in leaving the station without rebuy.

I was sitting in my fully kitted Corvette the other day, sat right outside the station next to the toaster rack and went to take a leak while my buddies refit their fighters. I got scan rammed by federal security, at full speed, blew himself up, station blew me away. 30mil I won't get back. I mean cmon, who flies their brand new baby without insurance man, it exists for a reason!

Hahahaha

Been there done that...but at least I learned my lesson with an Adder

You and me both but I think I did mine in a Cobra. I have flown without insurance since but it is gently gently with both eyes wide open and knowing it could all go pear shaped very quickly. It was a risk I accepted at the time.
