The 12 colonies

I came across an interesting forum post (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Galactica-Is-there-anything-like-it-in-Elite)

I was wondering if anyone, by now, has found something like it? Is be amazed to take my Vette (based on the Battlestar Pegasus) into a system such as this. Maybe kindly ask frontier to populate it.

While I definitely understand that the elite galaxy is based almost entirely on the Milky way as it currently is, it would be cool to find the cyrannus system from BSG (Which has been cited as an inspiration for the elite series)

If anyone finds or has found a quartenary system with enough planets, that would be seriously amazing. Or maybe Frontier could make a custom system somewhere, just to reference one of DB's inspirations.

We have 400,000,000 systems to look through.

Might take a while but there will probably be one out there (Unless the Devs have specifically put one in!)

Didn’t much like BSG in the 70’s, haven’t much changed my mind about the newer version. It’s just kind of... meh.

Is that the one where people constantly say "frak" instead of swearing? Language doesn't evolve like that, it put me right off.

... maybe because American audiences can't read subtitles? ;)

I prefer subtitles to dubbing, thank you. I still use it when programs are in French or German. Learned both while living overseas.

Even productions from the UK need subtitles, as well. :)

If you're referring to the 2003 BSG version, that citation is off base and misinformed. The Elite series started in '84 and more systems were named in Elite 2 in 93 and FFE in 97, way before Moore ripped off the names of the '78 original BSG. Babylon 5 was both closer in tech (for the humans at least) to using rotating miles long orbis type stations and use of a "swirling" hyperjump. Maybe some of '03 BSG's weapon tech was similar to ED's multi-cannons and projectile type weapons, but then again so was "Space: Above and Beyond" in '95. Elite's main inspirations were sci-fi and shows before the original in '84. Which would include majorly 2001:ASO with Karajan's performance of the "Blue Danube" , and other 70's sci-fi shows and movies i.e. Star Wars, Star Trek I&II, Alien(1979), UFO, Space:1999(moon bases and planet flybys), The Starlost, Silent Running( Trumble's vegetation domes) , and the original '79 BSG (the train-like boxcar ships, vegetation dome ships, cobra-like cylon raider ships), etc.
