The 3 most lazy things about Elite Dangerous and how to fix them

All punishments for anything have always been ship destruction. This is an intended design feature and has been from the very beginning, hence the voices inside stations threatening destruction at the most minor of slights. Don't wanna get blown up? Don't get a fine, or at the very least, pay it before you undock.

it's either predictable, or random. You can't have both, they are mutually exclusive. Random =/= predictable.

Why? The client might know but why should you? To make it easier? You want easy mode, Hello Kitty Online is thataway --->> Over here, in Elite: Dangerous, you're given information on a threat but they don't know where it is. You're getting paid for both finding and destroying it, understand? This isn't COD where you get a waypoint holding your hand every step of the way.

As for salvage.... wth? How would anyone know you stumbled across their lost cargo in the middle of some random point in space they're probably nowhere near in order to request it back?

I have a question for you - how many games like this, and/or RPGs, have you developed this year?

You had me until the last bit you said. You can criticize something without doing it yourself.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything else you said though.

Wall of text that tries to excuse itself for lack of OP's attention to deatil.

1. Pay the fines. Loitering is a crime punishable by death. If you didn't learned how strict ED universe on rules - you doing it wrong. Criticize all you want but it how things are and this is intentional. Pretty bold calling it "lazy". This is not some rushhed decision obliously. Rules are for everyone, no exceptions and we all pay the consequences for breaking them. Well, uless you are NPC and can FSD in close proximity or inside of the station :D

2. Finding something particular in the USS is a tedious task. Ever heard about Hutton Orbital? Same here. Made that mistake once - never again.

3. Don't touch what does not belong to you in the first place. And if you do - be quick and smart enough to avoid cosequences. Or it's rule №1 all over again.

All in all OP doing it wrong IMHO.

I agree with Hexen.

OP seems to want more hand holding and easy mode game mechanics.

Yeah let's keep this game as simple, boring and tedious as it is now.

And please add no depth at all. It could disturb people from spacetrucking.

If you find it simplistic and tedious now, you won't find it noticeably better with the proposed changes.

Honestly, for all it's graphical wonder, the actual mission logic is somewhat more primitive than what was done all those years ago.
I said months ago - Kudos to the graphics and the combat team, but I hope that mission and QA team have a day job.

All good ideas. Most of them are too elaborate to realistically see them implemented, but you're right, it's all stuff that should be there.

Especially the salvaging laws. As an explorer-type, it bugs the hell out of me that when I find a USS in the middle of nowhere, miles from any inhabited systems, the salvaged cargo is still flagged as stolen.

Salvaging should be a viable profession (in the long run, I'd love to see actual salvaging tools implemented, like the different discovery scanners etc)

Agree with salvaging being a viable profession. PERHAPS the cargo can be taged with proper owner, - reward for returning to specific station , not considered "stolen" until you dock at a station different than that specific location.

So those dealing in stolen items can sell at black markets easly enough. and those that simply want to return to correct owner get there reward...

I disagree. This is very shallow game mechanic that should be fleshed out. Ever heard of the Law of Salvage? A quick Google will enlighten you. The current salvage implementation definitely needs a rethink :)

WHY is everyone whining about the fine thing , i dont know how many times i have been fined for accidentally shooting the cops in this game just go pay it immediately and its over , i have never been killed by the station , if you wait to long it turns to bounty !

OP posted he left the station with a fine ( that means he didnt pay it before he went exploring , so by his own admission he didnt show up in court, and a warrent was issued and now he cries. should have paid the fine before he left.

Excellent constructive post. Have some rep. While I might not agree with all the details of OP's suggestions I do feel that, even with just these relatively modest tweaks, the game would be a lot more fun (read more logical, less random) than the game we have. I have hopes that FDEV will be having similar ideas to make things better over the coming months.

He said, "this is MMO 101" as if he was an expert on the matter. My question was valid.

I still disagree with saying it at all, but I get your reasoning now.

Of course, this isn't even the place to post serious suggestions, so I guess it's supposed to be cathartic griping over anything else.
