The min difference is. VW took senior level responsibility for it, owned the problem and just sucked it up. who is leading the effort at fdev to rectify things? Who is standing up and offering a mea culpa for releasing the game in such a state in the first place, and disappointing so many cus DB didn’t do it. His was more like, sorry about these unforeseen technical things, but as these forums and steam reviews show they ain’t the entire thing,
it needs visible and accountable ownership and leadership at fdev.
The %^@$@ they did. VW denied everything for over a year, and put the issues down to technical glitches. The CEO stepped down eventually when the EPA in the US went into a full investigation/prosecution mode, and he was indicted as a criminal (and is currently labeled a fugitive in the USA) but beyond that all VW ended up doing was a public apology, and offer to buy back the effected cars or repair them, and pay a fine.
Which is basically what Frontier has done (well, minus the fact that Davey B isn't a fugitive from justice) The CEO has repeatedly publicly apologised for the state of the release, has promised to fix it, begged for patience while they sort it out, and anyone who's bought the game and are disappointed with the current state can get their money back.
I'm not sure what more is expected of him? David Braben walking naked through the streets of Cambridge with a sign around his neck, while disgruntled gamers follow him ringing bells and shouting "shame"?
