Anyone interested?
If the devs don't want to release public documentation for the .ovl format but give us the nod to reverse-engineer it, I'd be happy to do a bit of shared research.

Sadly no asp explorer from frontier...Oh how I miss you! Superb mix of between heavy fighter and anaconda in size....Surely the best ship in frontier...Loved it...so much....*SIGH*
I'm sure I'm not the first person to notice this, but there are a few nuggets of information about ships hidden in the alpha files. According to Michael Brookes, the info isn't completely accurate, but it does give us something to speculate about. It comes from the 'SharedAudioAssets folder'.

Much of it seems fairly obvious, though it's nice to see the Python in there. I reckon that might make a nice ship for pirates.
Asp Explorer was my favourite ship as well just because I loved the landing struts and its size was perfect.
Eh? I see an Asp on the list. Asp Explorer was my favourite ship as well just because I loved the landing struts and its size was perfect.
But is it the small asp from the original elite or is it the asp explorer from frontier which is much bigger?
2 totally different craft.
Imperial courier IS on the list. Mmmm. Thats my ship. I bagsy it and you can't have it.
My precious.
Too late.
Cheers,
Drew.
In Frontier I defected to the Empire solely to get my hands on a Imperial Courier. I have no intention of going back to the Federation in Elite Dangerous.
