You will be testing .. not playing ..

Its Elite all over again ... [where is it]

Enthusiasts may pay for the privilege to test it out early while more savy buyers can wait and get the game realtively cheap, but will have to wait until later, in a more complete state? I see the issue more in the unrealistic expectations people might have than in the model itself.

Or are you alluding to the state of Elite Dangerous (very much incomplete)? [tongue] I'm not happy with the state of Elite either and complain from time to time on the forums, but really, safe for time travel I see little sensible alternatives to how it's being handled. Give it an additional 5 years of dev time before releasing it and fund it out of thin air? Or let the enthusiasts who buy in at early stages and high prices finance the game as a continuously developed service (by means of season passes) and sell the game in the meanwhile as far as it is done? The one alternative I can see - a free2play model - doesn't look much more attractive to me.

Regarding Elite I was just comparing the Alpha hype with this thats all, wasn't anything else about Elite. Don't get me wrong I am itching to 'try out' the alpha as well and from we have seen so far there looks to be quite a bit in the alpha, at a guess.

The point being though that people will be testing the game not playing it. I get annoyed when people put money down for an alpha to 'play' the game. They wont be playing anything, they will be testing it, and thats the attitude they should go into the alpha with.

Some peeps have some strange ideas of what an alpha or beta for that matter actually is these days, they seem to think that its just a way of playing the game before everyone else. Its not, it allows devs to test certain aspects of the game and that is all there is to it.

Sorry, rant mode off.

I see it as a way of testing while playing. You can actually do both. The only difference with a full released game is that we know that there will be limited features and content and the game will have some bugs and unfinished parts. We all have to keep that in mind while 'testplaying' the game.

EDIT: Have to add that some full released games do suffer limited features and a lot of bugs as well. But those are supposed to be finished games. PC isn't supposed to be finished, therefore we can make sure that all those bugs can be found and reported to Frontier. This way the game can be near perfect when it's late 2016 when the game gets released.

I have been lurking for some time and pondering over pulling the trigger on Planet Coaster as I am a day 1 supporter of RCTW.

Pulled the trigger today and the 22nd can't come soon enough.

HYPE HYPE HYPE!!
