So as some of you may remember I just very recently made it to Duke, sold my Anaconda, and got my Cutter. I sold my Anaconda because I thought I wouldn't need it! Trading? Cutter was better. Combat? Cutter wasn't necessarily better, but it can shield tank the Death Star in a fight. And those are really the only 2 things I usually do in the game. But the thing is I grinded nothing but Trade missions and Passenger missions for weeks to get my Cutter. So once I had the ultimate Trade ship I was burnt out on......well.....Trading. I thought that if I saw one more mission to go get Reactive Armor or Non-Lethal Weapons I might just boost myself into the nearest star.
So I decided that I would dust off my AspX and go exploring for the first time in over a year. But by the time I got 2 systems away from home I knew that I wanted a different ship than my AspX. So I thought what the heck. I'll try out the Phantom. I had heard it had replaced alot of people's Asp's so I thought I would see what the hype was about and it really is a great ship. Love the little thing, but I still didn't really feel at home. See I have flown almost nothing but large ships ever since I got my first Type-7. I've grown used to the ships I fly having some weight to them. The Phantom feels light as a feather and it throws me off.
I think to myself "Well I will just strip my Cutter down to bones and go exploring in it!" and go to Coriolis to experiment with some builds. But it becomes very clear very quickly that the Cutter is not exactly the best ship for the job. At best with my current modules (I don't have Guardian FSD booster) that I could only get my Cutter to about 35.5ly. And yeah thats enough to go exploring and yeah I know jump range isn't everything, but good lord does it help make life better.
So with that option gone I look up builds for Large exploration ships. And what do I find? Anaconda city.
I had completely forgotten that the Conda was the jump king. Mine had always be outfitted as a fully capable combat hauler. So its jump range was nothing to write home about. Not mention that I hadn't done much serious exploring since I did a few roads to riches back when I first started the game. So I never NEEDED a big ship that could jump far. I mean throwing the EXACT SAME build on the Conda that I tried out on my Cutter got me 53lys. Damn near 20 extra lys worth of jump for a ship that is roughly the same physical size as my Cutter, but since its hull is made from fairy dust and dreams it gets the mega numbers while other ships get squat. Its just crazy how good the Anaconda is in some areas.
So here I am just week and some change after getting my Cutter and I am already looking at needing another Anaconda. I feel like a fool for ever selling mine in the first place. I thought I wouldn't need an Anaconda anymore.
I think I am gonna call my new Anaconda Whitesnake because
