The Ancient Artifacts: Expiration Date

How do we know they are ancient? That base could have been built 20 years ago for all we know.

Ask the Kids in the Office today, 20 years is Ancient lol

Sell the Goods to your favourite faction.

We know numbers of certain items sold at stations trigger events, sufficient sales of the Xenohenge artefacts to a specific faction might trigger one of their Scientific Boffins to make a discovery.

Faction/Super Power

I am pro empire, but the Alliance have a listening post in the area and it is their turn to have the spot light ne?

Man, why do people feel the need to hoard stuff??

It's not like these things are hard to obtain, if you need them go collect some.

I would also say because they are in the game, it does not mean something will happen with them. There are already a decent number of "mysterious" items in the game that do nothing specific beyond just storytelling, soontill relics, trinkets of hidden fortune, sap 8 core container.

It could be a very long time till they have a "purpose" and in fact it's very possible they will never have a specific purpose. It's also likely that if they are given a purpose then it will be something minor and you will then just complain you were forced to hold on to them for months, because that's how you roll.

Just play the game man, stop hoarding and limiting yourself "just in case".

I'd hardly call collecting new items that FD added to the game, and holding in to then for a week or so, "hoarding." I am playing yhe game. I went to their new "mysterious" place, looked around, and interacted with the environment.

Maybe I need to spell it out more clearly: module storage and half baked game play. FD makes commodities have long term value (Engineer items, likely these things, etc) but gives the player no effective way to hold into them without "hoarding" them in their ships. Also, a i said, releasing a new item or feature without a purpose behind "it's there now" is half baked and shallow. It's not "content." FD seems to be under the false premise that adding eye candy (I.e.: new Civ and military outposts, gysers, etc) and other random items with absolutely no game play value constitutes content. It doesn't. Game design is much deeper and more complex than that. The galaxy has "stuff" in it; cool, now make that stuff meaningful.

Because its fun. Maybe not to you, but to many it is. Asking 'why do people want to hoard stuff?" is like asking why you play games. You can justify it yourself, there wont be an objective answer and you dont owe anyone any explanation.

I want to put them in my display case next to my bed and storage chest in my asteroid base... How long will that take?

Thats what your 2nd Account is for..... holding stuff you will never need.
(Hooray for the new T7, lots more space than my old Asp)

Yup. I actually love surface salvage. Its one of my favorite things to do. Now, I wish we had more complex, interactive, interesting, and dynamic worlds to explore and scavenge in, and actually be able to turn a half respectable profit, but landing on a planet and finding stuff to collect is one of the most fun and enjoyable things in the game for me. I'm actually considering buying a Type 7 to use solely as my surface salvage vehicle. It looks the part.

Also, the SRV drives like    . That could use some work, along with some vehicle variety. 2T of cargo? Give me a nice surface salvage vehicle with 15-20!

I use my second account for storage. Collected Ancient stuff yesterday, seemed like a waste to just sell it, it may show useful at some point although right now I have no idea what for. Only time will tell.

The ship is used for Eng. commodities, typically mission, and mining stuff but also buyables to save some jumps. It may also contain liberated Hafnium 178 and Antiquities canisters. You never know what the next Engineeers have a fancy for.
