Ships The Annie owners club

I joined the Annie owners club last night. She is called Jormungandr and she is a beauty.

I tried beam turrets but they seemed weak so I replaced them with gimballed. Really, with grd 5 DD, it's fairly nimble.

What are people thinking of running for Multi-Crew? (for those that are planning on having open ships..)

I was thinking of running all turrets apart from my Huge weapon, but now I'm not sure.

Are missiles worth it? Turretted Cannons?

Also wondering about the combination of weapons & placement on the ship, if there's enough coverage on the below so I should run the bottom Large as another fixed to make it a bit more interesting for me...

I'm kinda in your boat...

https://eddp.co/u/GLtq913g

That's my PvE Anaconda ready for Multicrew, with some medium engineering it's pretty much invincible.

Top Large and Side Medium are Burst Turrets, in case of a gunner and also fine for solo play, since I'm not that much of a great pilot. Bottom Huge and Large are Gimballed so that I have something to do. The Small mounts are Turrets again, pretty much just there to apply some effects.

What am I missing here?. Don't understand why Anaconda owners max everything out which slows it down reduces jump range and costs a heck of a lot of credits as well. Here is my INS Penny Royal at half the cost of yours and like you I feel pretty invincible in her, but no ship is really invincible stay too long against a better opponent and you will get killed. It isn't good enough to think you can build a tank sometimes the sensible warrior must know when to cut and run. https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/ana...5+BuNhn2jwNYj8A+3MracjAwAA&bn=INS Penny Royal

I've just joined the Anaconda owners club after spending 3 days dithering as to whether to buy it now or earn some more credits but in the end decided to take the plunge.

This is my build so far: https://eddp.co/u/mQPZY7gu and I have 180M in the bank in case of accidents.

Took it for a shakedown run last night and loved it. It's slow and turns like a warehouse but oh its good. Had a play with a SLF as well which adds a whole new dimension to the game and come 2.3, my son will be joining me as a crew member for some flights.

I am though slightly scared of taking it out properly into the big bad universe. Its a bit like going from driving a mini and buying a 12 wheeler but I will have to man up soon or the games going to get very limited. I felt the same when I went from my Vulture to the Python so know it will be a learning curve. Next step is to head out and engineer it. I've got mats for a G3 Dirty Drive and G4 Increased Range FSD which will make a big difference. The 6A Shield came from the Python as well as the MC's and Boosters.

Anyways, I'm a very happy boy ;-)

The reason for maxing things out is it's often used as a combat ship and maxing things out allows you to stick around in combat for longer periods. Some people strip it down for exploring and, I understand, it gets a great jump range. I've engineered my FSD for range but it's only getting about 23ly range because the rest of the build is all about combat. My Asp X is what i use for exploring with a 53ly range in explorer mode and 48ly in sightseeing passenger mode.

My Conda

Love the Conda though I also use my Python and Asp X a lot as well what with the conda being too big for outposts.

This is the current build (roughly speaking) https://eddp.co/u/fd6XoK6H I'll see if I can get round to properly adding in the modded values sometime.

The shields are efficient modded with slightly improved strength. 2 Boosters are heavy duty modded and 2 are augmented resistance modded.

Class 4 Beam laser is efficient modded and can run permanently firing on it's own with 3 pips in weapons....which is fun. I also got an experimental effect meaning when it hits it gets rid of more heat at a cost of more when it misses.
3 Burst lasers are long range modded which, importantly, really improves the damage range drop off....4.5km range....you can run but you'll have to run a lot!. A couple of them got armour piercing bonus as secondary.
All multi cannon have increased ammo mod and one has the corrosive shells too which is surprisingly effective.

Power plant is overcharged lvl 1 mod for 41Mw....working on unlocking engineer so i can up this. So I can currently run 4 shield boosters and 3 shield cell banks all the time and all I have to turn off is the cargo hatch.
Distributor is enhanced recharge speed modded..... I recommend this....really, really recommend it! You lose a little capacity but recharge is great. 4 pips in weapons and I can fire everything for quite a while before discharging it.
FSD is range increased Lv5
Thrusters are dirty drive lv 1 (I think)

As for Multicrew I think i'll leave weapons as they are so a gunner will have plenty of all round fields of fire and I can concentrate on getting nose on for my gimbal beam and presenting the lasers / multicanons depending on enemy shield state.

While my build is a 100% combat build, which can pretty much last forever in a PvE combat no matter which or how many ships are attacking, yours is an allrounder. I've got a second Anaconda that's pretty similar to yours, with a jumprange of around 35ly and everything needed to collect and scavenge...

I'd suggest to equip class D Life Support and Sensors on your Anaconda, which would further increase your jumprange by over 3,5 ly.

Thanks for the reply I will check that out.

Just wanted to mention that I refitted my multi-role Anaconda as a pure combat ship with some G4/G5 engineering and I'll say that the difference is so huge that I am so happy i refitted it. I mean PvE combat in HazRES and CZs are now nothing, it can take several ships at one time and the shield wouldn't get a scratch :D

I also put in some SLFs for multi-crew and so far been having lots of fun

After half a year or so of playing I finally purchased an Anaconda. Promptly named her "Too Big to Fail", outfitted it, and did some bounty hunting with a friend riding shotgun in the SLF.

I'm more of a small ship kinda guy, but I do love playing "star destroyer" with this thing!

My loadout so far.

I've been playing since beta and finally bought my first Anaconda. Named her Infinity's Edge, she will become my deep space explorer.

Guess I need a new forum signature pic.

It's humble pie time for me.

I previously said the Conda was not for me...and I've rebought it, and I'm kitting it out for the deepdark. Somehow, it feels like if I'm going to be out there then it should be in something substantial. (And I mastered leaving stations without scraping the paint off quite easily).

Ship name: Different Drummer

Meet my long-range passenger cruiser and rescue vessel: The Earthbound Misfit.

The Misfit has been on the DWE and back, and now serves as a rescue ship and transports passengers across long distances. Unarmed, the only weapons aboard are mounted on the two SRVs kept for surface exploration. Highly engineered interstellar travel, the Misfit can carry over 40 rescue-limpets and still boast over 50lys of range, with a base range of 56. The 7A fuel scoop minimizes time collecting fuel, and it can often just skim stars en-route to its destination.

Just got my Annie "El Jefe" as a step up for my Python three days ago and I'm very happy with it.
I'll keep the Python also, no doubt about that but I feel that Annie is going to help me primarily ship a lot of cargo around the verse and gather some more credits and ranking.

I just recently bought an Anaconda, and my god this thing has horrible handling in SC. Granted, my experience from before is restricted to ships like FGS, FAS, AspX and smaller which all fly nice in SC, but I really wasn't prepared for this level of sluggishness. Especially as I bought the ship purely for exploration, it seems that it'll take some time for me to adjust.

So I recently upgrade from my old Python to an Anaconda, and I gotta say I love it. Now I had (previously to my python) flown an FGS and it was sluggish, but while I find the Anaconda as such I actually love it as a gunboat. Being I had only 20 Mil left after the buy I figured I'd just move some old modules from both the FGS and Python into what I could on the Conda and even with barebones Core Internal upgrades it can still hold it's own.
Currently using burst laser turrets on everything minus the bottom large hardpoint (Corrosive MC) and have to leave the Huge empty until I earn some more credits but solid ship. Christened her "FSS Atlas" (Federation Support Ship)

Now any recommendations for upgrades and engineering? I've heard G5 Dirty drives are pretty great but I kinda wanted to have it run a bit more cooler.

Congratulations Cmdr Stealthy, the Anaconda is a might fine ship that takes a bit getting used to but once that's done you'll love her.
I rolled into one a bit the same way as you did.
Meanwhile she's my main trader ship so the setup is concentrated on that and below here a summary of the engineering so far... not finished yet though...

PS: don't mind the capitals... not shouting here, otherwise I have to retype the whole list ;-)

INCREASED FRAME SHIFT DRIVE 4 (46.00ly)
DIRTY DRIVE TUNING 2
CHARGE ENHANCED 3 PD
POWER PLANT HEAT EFFICIENCY 1 (5A)
LONG RANGE DETAILED SURFACE SCANNER 3
LIGHT WEIGHT SENSOR 4
THERMAL RESISTANT SHIELDS 3 (5A)
RESISTANCE AUGMENTED SHIELD BOOSTERS 3 (4X)
SPECIALISED SHIELD CELL BANK 1 (5B)

If you click on the banner below you'll get a chance to check out the setup in more detail.

Cmdr Stealthy:
I have currently 4 Anacondas. And I did some research on dirty drive and clean drive tuning. The DD5 makes no difference in supercruise in terms of heat.
If you are willing to experiment a bit, you can try out smaller thrusters. I have on Conda with class 5 dirty drive tuning grade 3 thrusters as the lightest version (I know one Cmdr out there hast class 4 thrusters in a Conda but with extra effect on optimal mass) This ship has class 1 D power Distributor - so no boost, 287 m/s speed.
You can use 6D dirty drive grade 5 thrusters and get some 330 m/s boost speed. 7D dirty drive tuning thrusters can get you 350 m/s boost - wich is waaaaay above non engineered 7A thrusters.

My fastest Conda has 6A dd5 thrusters and runs whopping 390 m/s boost, but these thrusters are a very lucky god roll at 39,5% improvement.

There are a gazillion ways to outfit a Conda. You can have a fast and light armed trader with fighter bay for little money if you combine the modules cleverly and engineer the hell out of it.
