Ships The Annie owners club

Hmm not so bothered about battle fitting, more just able to do missions.

If your serious about wanting to do missions, you already have the best ship available. The Python is way better for mission running. In 2.1 it's the best ship you can have.

I have several Anaconda's, but I spend most of my time in a Python.

It just does everything well. I wouldn't even think Conda until you were G5 with all the Engineers, or at least the ones you want and have that Python maxed out. It takes it to a whole nother level.

While im happy to have bought my Anaconda 2 nights ago, the bank isnt showing signs of happyness at all. I've already spent about 320M credits (including selling 3 A-rated Vultures) and i haven't even A-rated some of the stuff! A real credit sink!

I've had the FSD modded to Level 5 and it can now jump 31LY on full 300+ cargo (and i thought i was lucky), though im wondering how other people can get jump ranges all the way to 50+LY. Does that include lightweight hull mods too? I have mine fully fitted with all slots used and i can only go 37+LY max.

Also saw my first rebuy screen in months after i got blown at some HazRes a little while ago by a group of wanted ships because i forgot to sell 1 Modular Terminal [sour]

Watched a couple of videos on You Tube and figured out I was exiting/entering too slow. The last few times I have lined her up and went out at speed without mishap. Even though I must sometimes still rattle the rings, for some reason I don't get the warning. Just have to keep an eye open for ships coming the opposite way.

Since buying my Anaconda a few days ago I have upgraded the Thrusters, Power Distributer, Shields and F.S.D. all to 6A grade. I have upgraded the Power Plant from 8D to 8C and have earned nearly enough to upgrade it to 7A. However, even though the mass is reduced from 40 - 80 tons this only gives me an added speed of 2m/s from 205m/s to 207m/s, an added boost of 3m/s from 273m/s to 276m/s and an added fully laden jump range of 0.68ly from 19.07ly to 19.75ly. It doesn't seem enough really to justify the almost 33mcr cost for the same 30MW power. How have you other owners approached upgrading the Anasconda?.

When deciding what powerplant to use, just be aware that things like engineered thrusters and shield boosters will very quickly exceed power provided by stock. I ran a tradeconda with moderate upgrades simply because I didn't need the best ones other than FSD range. Now I've fully fitted it with grade 5 blueprints and the powerplant requirement is close to 40MW, so expect 8A powerplant with at least grade 1 overcharged if you want to install all the best internals and engineer them.

My personal recipe is as follows: roughly line the Conda up with the slot - does not have to be perfect -, speed up to about 60-70 and try to align the little "antenna" at the bow with the yellow arrow lines in the slot. Works 99% of times, apply vertical thrust if hitting the top or bottom. It has to be a fluent move [noob]

Thanks for the reply but not in the least interested in Engineering mods as it stands at the moment. After my long distance exploration/prospecting trip and a few weeks mining and doing missions for my local faction I had according to Eduardo's site enough mats to do more or less every upgrade I wanted to my Python. On doing some research into getting these mods done I found it was a lot of tedious bother and sold what I could in the local market for knock off prices in most cases, sold my three ships and had enough for a D rated Anaconda with enough credits left over for a couple of rebuys and 5mcr for buying 352 ton of cargo. If there comes a time in the future when I can go to the engineer, pay the dues and get my mods I will probably do it but the grind and palaver it is at present I can do without.

I came into an anaconda fairly recently. Flew a python before that. I've always loved big, versatile ships and the anaconda fits the bill perfectly.

I named her "Heavy Mettle"

She's heavily modded, 3,300 shield points, 3,600 hull. top speed 280 and jump range currently 23Ly.

I personally find the anaconda the best of the "big three" it may not have the speed or shield strength/cargo hold of the cutter, or the firepower of the corvette, but it finds a nice middle ground. Plus it's the only one of the three that you would ever really want to take exploring!
I took Heavy Mettle to jaques with 190 tonnes of Tantalum to help repair the station. Jump range then was only 16.5 Ly (ouch!)

I'm glad to be in this prestigious club - long live the 'conda!

Explorer Anaconda Outfitting

I just completed the primary goals I set for myself when I started ED, now I am looking to enjoy the secondary goals at a more sedate pace. I have a combat Corvette and a multi-role Python, both are fully modded with class-a level 5's as currently available so no need to fool with those for now.

My third ship is an Anaconda that I want to set up for long range exploring. I have started to experiment in the current Beta with some load outs using lesser class modules. I got a unarmed version up to 48ly but the thrusters don't fire so I have to fiddle with the distributor/powerplant combo. I already have a 6A level 5 long range FSD with a decent roll, she was doing 40ly with d-class modules unladen and very light armament (mostly as a last resort) and 27+ with 360t of cargo.

If anyone has gone out into the Great Unknown and used an explorer Anaconda, I would appreciate to learn from your experience so I can avoid mistakes.

Last night I took my minor modified Conda to an empty system with a Pristine Metallic Ring. Obviously soon as I dropped in I was greeted by NPC's wanting my Cooling Hoses.

It was a Cobra, a Sidewinder & 2 Eagles. Nothing to worry about of course.

That was the first time I've set my all turret Conda to "Fire at Will". My god I wish I'd gone to external cam, every weapon was firing off in different directions, it was truly a sight to behold.

I love this ship, I can't wait to get matching SRV & Fighter Paintjobs for it.

What are the tips to getting through the slot, I never had a problem with my Python and although I am getting better with the Anaconda I still rake the grills a lot with the dreaded "get out of our station before we shoot you down, you dog" response. I line her up in the slot perfectly to my eye but always seem to be either too high or too low. How do you others do it?.

Automated Docking Computer: Fit one for a day or two. It will show you where to line up to go through the slot. DO NOT engage Otto 7 miles out or it may lawn-dart you into the station walls.

Scrape your head thru the slot. If you do not duck you are too low.

So what is the vanilla anaconda like? Can you pick one off the shelf and survive the odd interdiction whilst trading/mission running to improve components or is it just not worth getting until you can upgrade some key components?

IMHO, the off the shelf is not good enough to survive NPC interdictions. Getting at least D level components and pulse weapons for all hard points is good minimum.

I think that's true for every ship.

A few days a go, i put 8xSmallBeamTurrets on my Anaconda and went to a RES (common) and decided to have fun with the NPCs, most of the NPCs that showed up are small ships with a few mediums. I set the turrets to "Fire At Will" and had lots of LoLs. Both my PP and PD are modded to level 3 so no issues at all with draw. Heat wasnt a thing too since i've been slowly A-rating my modules too :)

That's true. Also, to me it seems the Anaconda attracts quite another league of NPCs. So people grinding for a bigger ship thinking/hoping to be "safer" should be in for a nasty surprise. From my experience you're much safer in a Python (when we talk PVE only) and if you have grinded your combat rank up without developing the appropriate skills and experience this relation even intensifies.

This is too true.

You might as well get a Python and buy decent modules with the remaining credits and make profit rather than buy and fly a stock Anaconda only to die and spawn back to a Sidey because you didnt have enough money for a rebuy.

Buying and flying stock ships is not exactly a good idea whatever the ship is, its just another invitation to the rebuy screen. At least get all modules D-rated with some A (FSD and PD are important) to increase your survival rate incase you get interdicted.

Combat rank also plays a big role here :)

As others have said, don't go off the shelf, make sure you can D rate it and buy a half decent shield.

I'd suggest being able to power at least 5 grade A shield boosters as well. I had a D grade Conda, but saved for a 6A shield & 6 boosters immediately. 1100MJ shields were enough to get away from any AI.

Yep. This is pretty much as I expected. Guess I'll fly the Python for a while longer. I don't mind too much... :D
