The (argh!) that just doesn't make any sense thread.

RES sites on Ice belts. There is no mining in Ice belts yet, so you won't find any miners there. You will however find pirates hunting the nonexistent miners.

Hmm, there's no limitation on firing chaff and flares in a no fire zone but you can't leave cargo behind. I'm kinda surprised there isn't at least a nominal fine for having to clean your chaff particles off the windows. It also feels a little odd that avoiding or evading scans is legal. I guess maybe they're automated scanners that generally work on a (US) stoplight camera basis of 'if we can't passively prove anything we do nothing'. Also silent running feels a little odd:

"Where is sidewinder 43-B?"
"He's already landed and docking bay 12"
"What? Last report had him 6k away?"
*shrug*

I'm also imagining a very grumpy Ivanova from Babylon 5 running one of these stations >.>

Getting fines for illegal cargo but being allowed to continue into the station with it, and then returning with the same cargo time and time again with no further consequences.

But all this runs on an interesting, procedurally generated, model of our galaxy, including all those planets! This HAS to count for something!

Only 2 bindings per fire group. And forcing us to waste one of them with KW scanners, cargo scanners etc...

A KW scanner should be passive, like a DSS.If you keep your ship pointed at a target long enough, it'll get the scan.

Either that.. Or let us bind it freely to whatever we want...

Z...

So does space engine, but that isn't sold as a game. Actually it's not sold at all.

Here a background one that offense my make-sensibilities:

The System Eranin. (Or Hel, or many, many others- but Eranin is a good example).
A FEDERATION system. The Federation, being one of the distinct sovereign stellar nations.
Yet it is a Controlled system by The ALLIANCE- a different sovereign nation (alliance)
The local system police forces are Fed, but the crimes are logged against alliance.

.. basically, the border zones of these National bodies overlap- and do not go to war over it.

I'm certain Mexico would love to gain similar controlling interests in San Diego and Los Angeles, but Amurica may have some rather strongly worded issues with that. Written on missiles. And bombs. (ok, fine; lets not get all nationalist- Canada would love them some Anchorage and Seattle, too)

Ok, so your traveling in hyperspace, maybe a hundred jumps or whatever, (within a few degrees here and there) but basically in a straight line from point A to point B.

All of a sudden you will arrive at one particular star and the next jump is directly behind you. Argh! That doesn't make any sense.

Here's one I just ran into: I died and rebought my current loadout. Apparently this included the exact number of bullets in my multicannon. o_O

some anarchy systems still give bountys. taking cargo from a wreck selling at a anarchy station for a marked down price when its a consumable (either food or something the station uses to produce whatever) bounty boards showing wanted commanders in solo/mobious showing in open for top wanted. i can go on for days.

i would love for ed to spend the next 3 patches or so just improving the general designs they already have implace.

The main thing that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that we have an advanced discovery scanner that can locate planets and stars thousands of LS away, yet we have a surface scanner that loses contact with a POI when you drop below 1.5km so you have to rely on plain old sight or driving around in your SRV to actually find stuff...

Or the fact that as explorers we dont have a ship based high power version of the SRV scanner that scan planets for stuff. That way we can fly around and deploy the SRV in the places with the most abundant concentration of rocks, vitamins, and minerals.

I also find it ridiculous that pirates who intercept you have no concept of 4 pips to engines and boost

A game that i pay $60 for has me sit out for 5 days as a penalty for accidentally hitting a dumb ass cop that jumps in front of you. I could see a few hours maybe but 5 days is ridiculous.

space stations mass lock my ship to about 5km, and planets to about 2km. Argh! That just doesn't make any sense!

The 2km mass lock is for orbital cruise. Orbital cruise and supercruise are not the same thing. Once you enter Orbital Cruise you'll enter another mass lock state for a few km that prevent you from high waking (jumping to another system).

The fact that for some reason all factions have decided overnight that they don't really care that much about pirates any more.

Bounty hunters are experiencing a drastic lack of income generating opportunities as the winter solstice approaches. Rumours already circulating that some misguided bounty hunters are shooting up inexperienced pilots at resource sites in a desperate attempt to provoke system authorities into issuing contracts.

You can high wake to another system straight away from 2km from a planet.

The other poster before sounded right, that you can only jump 5 km from a station for safety reasons, but for this to be true the same should apply to land bases too.
