The ARX conundrum (How it's rewarded)

Why do we not see ads for in game tech brokers and materials traders on these holograms?

Nice idea for a submission if they run an ingame ad competition again.
Nah, they really need to come up with some stock ones before considering a competition.

And improve or remove the range limitation in the Galaxy Map so we can plot routes there.

Is ARX addiction already a thing?
obsessing, needing, bargaining.

At first I had that feeling to log in, play and max my ARX cap. Done some things, checked and noted I got 11 ARX... woo. Went to shop, noted that single paint job cost goes into thousands of ARX. Went back to ED and tried one of reported creative ways to get ARX. Logged out and instead of reported and expected 90 ARX I got 9... Seems it got fixed already (note to self - issues like that are fixed in mere minutes, other long term reported issues are not fixed at all for years. Curious).

Took a look at ARX income, weekly ARX cap, compared to prices and after 5s of mental idling decided I'm not going to bother with ARX in current form and design. I'd rather buy myself a pack, purchase selected paintjobs and be done with whole system.

And this is EXACTLY what FDEVs aimed for. Low ARX income, absurdly low weekly cap and high store prices? I just buy pack and skip waiting time. This time you won FDEVs.

Unless I decide painjobs aren't that important, no one can see them beside me and I don't play that much to justify paintjopb purchase. So in the end it may be I won't buy anything at all, while totally ignoring whole ARX system so FDEVs won't profit on me at all.

Its not confusing at all:
Take part in normal game activities like mining or missions = 0 Arx
Take part in anything grindy like HZ splating, material collection, honk/scooping = Weekly limit by the weekend

Just got 26 ARX for a fetch mission, didn't even do the mission just shared it via the wing.
Also got 45 for a wing assassination&massacre that I did (and shared with the wing).

I still need to hand the bounties in, as that will be some more ARX on top.

Plus 60 million credits.

Flogging off modules to clear up storage space 26 ARX.

I watched OA's latest video last night. apparently there are a number of bugs that give fast ARX rewards for minimal repetitive gameplay loops and these are also being sealed by Frontier with server side tweeks and patches.

I wonder if these proportionally higher ARX earners are bugs.

I did 4 hours of mining and made 200m. I destroyed one NPC pirate and mapped various ring systems. I earned 30 ARX.
But if someone can earn 26 arx for selling old modules, that seems broken to me.

I can see the thinking - that you can spend a lot of time outfitting and fiddling with your ship, and that shouldn't feel "wasted" in reference to ARX earnings. But also, just buying and selling parts en masse shouldn't result in a huge amount.

I guess we'll see how the balancing act changes as we go along. Hopefully selling modules won't be worth 20x more ARX than ending an NPCs hopes and dreams.

I flogged off all my spare high class passenger cabins as I've turned my passenger ship into a dedicated evacuation transport. Then a few fuel scoops and other easily replaced off the shelf gubbins less than twenty modules all told.

Then I stuck supercruise assist in all my ships as after the tutorial I've decided I really like it.

The only repetitive bit was going through my ships (12).

Stigbob's take on the whole ARX ballyhoo is bang on the money!

* +1 This is a one-time-only sentiment...he's pretty much wrong about everything else. 😋

As long as you find yourself laughing at the forum undead you are doing it right (y).

Just carry garlic and keep a crucifix handy.

I can see us all fapping our wings in this thread (my self included).
Its impossible not to. Which is why i believe that the cake is a lie.
The system behind the scenes is changing gears somehow to keep us guessing.

When the novelty wears off, we may yet see an official ARX farming table on the main menu.

[Or more likely, elitedangerousarxfarmer.dubioushax.com/weeklycalc will suddenly be a thing.]
Or, you know, on this very forum.

Seriously though, right now it's a fun challenge to try and unwind the rate at which various activities yield ARX, but the weekly cap has a cash value of several pennies a week. Someone would have to put an extraordinarily low value on their time to change their play to farm them.

There is absolutely no way we will ever find out how ARX are awarded - it's designed to stay as a mystery forever - just play the game :)

Shhh - don't tell them - they are not worthy! (And they keep ignoring it, more fun arguing I think....)

If I was FDEV I'd have diminishing returns so anyone trying to min-max grind ARX ran straight into a wall.

That's just my sense of humour though.

Random space adventuring seems to work.
