The AX nerf problem is that there is no obvious reason why, please explain...

Er... have you been attending that mental gymnastics class long?
We had CGs with thargoid parts as one of the materials to hand in. Of course they wanted/expected us to kill them.
Let's assume the video was a primer on how to kill them (again, , it depicted ships attacking a thargoid getting effed up). Why would they give us a primer on how to kill them if they didn't want us to?

Since you do not need to kill flower-ships to gather "thargoid parts" from them I am not sure how you justify your conclusion that we were "supposed" to kill them. As for the ships getting "effed up" in the trailer, 5 ships knocked the flower-ship's health down to 50% with a single salvo of AX rockets. Stands to reason 10 ships would have knocked its health down to zero. What the trailer demonstrated was that the people in the trailer simply did not bring enough ships. IMO FDev wanted at least a ten-to-one ratio of human ships to flower-ships in order to be able to kill them and instead, CMDRs found effective ways to kill flower-ships with 5 and less, even a single ship. That sort of math does not work for FDev's plans. They want large groups of CMDRs working cooperatively to kill flower ships and solo kills were never in the equation for them. o7

Fdev will be pleased to know that my cynicism has not reached levels even approaching yours yet. Lol. I pray my faith is not unjustified and you are wrong. :p

So do I. o7

This fits in with FD "nudging " us players to "participate" in the use of new features. They are pushing cooperative play, already observed by others who have reached the same conclusion.

Has happened before and will happen again, why do we seem to have no memory for past events? All the running about and pulling out our hair and wringing our hands over these things only leaves us with a bad hair style and chapped hands. Let's see what happens, the second Aegis initiative has completed and a third one waits in the wings.

This wasn’t a nudge it was a poke in the eye.

Any future Aegis CG goes on without me.

Interestingly enough, what you suggest GalNet to be? It is a news source, I like interface, music. Other than that it is just news delivery service. What else do you expect from it?

Fact people ignore it is a problem not really GalNet can solve. It can be improved, sure but calling it a 'total failure' is a bit rich in my opinion.

It's a Total Failure. It is not a failure because people ignore it. It is a failure because it is updated rarely, does not contain timely or relevant information just about ever, is poorly laid out, isn't searchable, isn't archived, and uses the same rotating collection of generic clip-art "illustrations" for every article. It looks bad, it functions poorly, it has very little content, and it's functionally a mess. It's a failure because the devs treat it as an afterthought, rather than recognizing it as the only primary method of delivering narrative content and CONTEXT to the goings-on in the game.

It should be understood as a critical tool to communicate with players.

This has NOTHING to do with whether or not the player base at large is ignoring it. If GalNet frequently and consistently contained timely, relevant, interesting, and actionable information; then it would be the first thing people check every time they sign into the game.

Hmmm, top quality forum PvP over the last 8 posts or so...

...& three counter-punching TKOs into the bargain! Good job all combatants! +1 to the victors [big grin]

Didn't want us to kill them or didn't want us to kill them so easily? They're two different things. I don't believe they didn't want us to be able to kill them. I will grant the possibility that they didn't want us to be soloing them though.

Since we no longer live in the days of happily depositing quarters into video games that were deliberately made to take your money, and instead, live in the days of Welfare Epics, and "I deserve," Frontier erred on the side of caution when they released the Thargoids. As others have said, I think it's perfectly clear that they did not intend for these things to be killed by solo Commanders within days of release.

The addition of a new, different weapon type that can be used in conjunction with the missiles would only make them easier to kill.

I don't see anything unclear with what has happened, and I hope that Frontier has learned to perhaps show more respect to the capabilities of the Commanders that play this game when the (likely) bigger bads come out to play.

Turn up the juice, Sarah Jane.

Please.
