The Balance of ATR response BGS-wise

There are threads elsewhere talking about the C&P aspects of the ATR response to murder. I'm hoping we can talk about the BGS effect here.

Murder has long been horribly overpowered in terms of its BGS effect. That has been addressed by reducing its negative impact to the equivalent positive effect of a bounty drop. The issue has since then been the ease with which murders can be farmed wrt the time it takes to make a bounty drop. Making it impossible to camp a nave beacon or USS and farm authority should just about balance it up. If its basically one kill and out, that should be right (so equivalent to time taken to interdict and kill a pirate)

I keep wondering how the "massacre civilians" missions will work now, any idea how these and other missions of their type will be affected?

They should be pretty tricky I would have thought, especially as a repeat activity as your notoriety grows. I've never really done them - since they usually would involve murdering our own alt factions and we are not big on murder to start with. I would hop that they came with a bigger payout commensurate with the difficulty of carrying them out.

They should be removed imho, because if they keep it like it is in the Beta now and don't apply any special treatment to the bounties rising like they do these missions will not be doable at all anymore. And assuming someone does complete them they'll have a substantial bounty on their backs in the vincinity of the MF they damaged this way.

Not even mentioning the constant hassle of the Security plopping up in SC and Bounty hunters following everywhere.

The only government to issue these missions should be Anarchy ones (though I've seen others do it too), preferably out of a Anarchy controlled System to begin with. Anything else will be quite detrimental to a Players (il)legal career.

I'm withholding judgement until I see where the ATR response and the new bounty mechanics are finalized.

haven't had much chance to test the beta from an operational perspective (other than shooting a station to see the reaction - spoiler alert: OW). It would seem that murder, to some extent, will be possible but increasingly difficult for the hot ship.

Farming security ships seems to be a thing of the past. I'm happy enough in one way that the OP nature of that activity is gone. I'm also sad as assaulting an outpost with a couple of wings, leading to a massive security response was a really fun and intense group activity.

To me, they were ineffective.

I'd have to change my strategy, but it did not stop me -as the ATR are not persistent in the system's supercruise so I could continue killing without opposition so long as I did not linger.

It makes their use as anti-ganking pointless, and only adds inconvenience to missions of murder in systems.

Continue killing Security ships or Civilian ones or both? I found it rather easy to jump in and out of a Nav Beacon and quickly get 1-2 kills of small civilians in, but Security was way too beefed up even at the earliest stages to stay too long in one place.

I sat at a station with an engineered Corvette tanking cops. ATR acted funny and only did one pass and fled.

But the timing would let me do what you described, land, kill a few ships and run. Then repeat.

Start with a clean ship and by the time you get to a high notoriety level you'll have your kills, but yeah, it will likely greatly complicate doing more than a few of these missions, unless you use a ship cheap enough to be sold when it's over and still make a profit.

Does this lead to keeping one or more Hot ships, parked at an Anarchy station, for your illegal activities and Clean ships for your normal legal stuff?

That's what I'm doing in the beta right now.

124 million cr Fed bounty on my corvette, but I swap to other ships to take missions, engineer, and test other aspects of the game in Wyrd.

Do you think it'll also help to use the cheapest viable ship to commit occasional crimes in, rather than our billion credit super-engineered battle wagons?

E.g. if I just need to carry out a planetary-scan of a private data point, would I be better going in a basic Sidewinder, as it's enough to get the job done while keeping the bounty value to an absolute minimum?
Or, if dropping in at a beacon/Res-site for a little strategic murder and getting out again quick, I'd imagine a much smaller/cheaper ship could do that perfectly well.

So it seems to me that the BGS just got made even more difficult and unbalanced for anarchy factions.

Still no new mechanics for criminal factions, black markets are still not fixed (should not undermine anarchy) which leaves all anarchy factions kinda screwed.

Half of our missions are not worth attempting now as the ATR will intervene and save the NPC's from being "griefed".

Its been over two years now... Can we have a basic differentiation between anarchy influence gaining activities and high security please?

This patch shows just how little FD understand their own BGS activities especially when it comes to "criminal" type factions.

We can't bounty hunt, use the blackmarket and now we cant do half the missions...

Cmon FD wake up !
