Thanks johann I guess your moniker gives us the clue but I agree docking is not docking without the blue danube. No other game has come near to the relief of docking after limping home, or indeed the agony of getting so close and misjudging the manual dock at a coriolis station.

This old post deserves new life!
When I was a junior pilot trainee some twenty-three years ago, I remember having a whole different sound system than I do in my MKIII today. The quality wasn't as good, it was not even stereo, but it didn't matter. I still loved listening to it, and it brings back many fine memories.
These days, music isn't what it used to be. I sometimes miss hearing the lovely masterpieces of Mussorgsky, Grieg and Strauss, but I see how they might not "fit in" with our world today. I still don't see why Lowe's "Frontier Main Theme" or "Frontier Second Theme" is unavailable. Can somebody back me up here? I want this music in my cockpit!

I know this is a bit cheeky but ...
I wonder if you could help me by answering a question about the music in the new game?
Being an old cheapskate who has not bought the game yet, and because you obviously have such a great taste in music (and own the game) I am sure you will have the answer I am seeking...... ;)
Please end my pain and tell me if the music in the docking sequence for Elite Dangerous still The Blue Danube? It will help persuade me to part with the cash if it is :):)

I also have very fond memories of hours spent perfecting my docking skills to the gentle sounds of The Blue Danube. I must admit that even thirtyish years later I am still reminded of Elite when I hear this piece of music. I can be on the train to work and hear the music on someones phone and before i know it I am back playing Elite, desperately trying not to crash into the station. I even find that I still move my head to follow the rotation of that impossibly small rectangle as the station slowly turns to the music.... :rolleyes: :eek:

OMG ... Have I gone completely looney tunes? :p

My first time with the classical music was when I was just 2 (!!!) years old.

And for now - I still mostly recalling some decent pieces of music, such like Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t-3wfA_uow) or Beethoven's For Elise (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1iZXyWLnXg)

I also like newer pieces, such like russian folk songs performed by Alexandrov Choir (Here - Katyusha: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrZoeTBvAcQ), some classical soundtrack adaptations (like EVE Online, performed on Fanfest 2013 for it's 10th Anniversary: https://youtu.be/aWmGNRoGLhc?t=16m27s) and the soundtrack itselves (Like HomeWorld's Adagio For Strings by Samuel Barber: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIUxwEJ-GXI - sometimes I'm feeling broken when I'm imaging myself as a MotherShip crewmember, watching as Kharak is burning or just when MS is launching from the Scaffold).

Such a good music...

I wonder... Can we hear the tunes from Elite 2 and 3 in 4? It woud me nice to hear em again, if FD planning to add new musics from the game.

I liked those music pieces from FFE of the "Quality Quartet" in all its midi glory as well as the classical sometimes although sometimes they were jarring in midi form. Sometimes I play FFE in the background in a window to play the music while I play ED lol.
