As a owner of the DK2 I can appreciate the awesome cockpits FD has designed. However, I have only experienced a few so far... but which is your favorite cockpit? ... and why?

Some cockpits offer great upper and lower views, while other offer great interiors, maybe it is the total package of the interior combined with sounds and view.

What is your opinion?

The T9 was amazing. Like being on the enterprise.
until I tried that, I didn't care for the idea of walking around the ship, now I want to know where all the corridors go

I've only tried the Sidewinder, Eagle, Viper, Lakon 6, and Asp. So I can't really vote. The Asp is my favorite so far, I can see *everything*.

Type-9, the feeling of being so high above the pad while docked is an awesome feeling, you look down and think 'that would really hurt if I tried to jump that far'. Anaconda is great if you want the feeling of being on the bridge of Supertanker

I don't think you can vote till you have flown a clipper. The only ships I still need to fly, are the python, conda, FDL, and T9 (oh yeah, and orca.. but that ship doesn't count). But I have seen videos... I think clipper takes it IMO.

Yeah, I jumped back in a T9 last night, pretty amazing. Also being able to look down as you land is quite cool.

I'm still a fan of the T-6, weirdly. It's not the biggest, or the prettiest.. but it just feels right, both in and out of the Rift. There's something curiously appealing about the T-6 in general. However, one of my favourite things about this game (for all its flaws) is the how different the ships feel, look and sound- they have real character. It's fun to fly!

My Problem with the Clipper is it looks very fake. Don't get me wrong, the Clipper and Orca have a lovely open canopy, it's just the texturing (max settings) The Lakons look like a rusty old freighter, the texture quality is well done. The Clipper feels like you are in computer game, cartoon style texturing

I also liked the Lakon type ships. The creaking of the ship as you flew was amazing. That clipper video was cool from sp82. I had not seen the interior of the clipper yet. Looks very high end compared to some of the other ships.

It has a different look, for sure. Neon lights under the dash and scattered around the cockpit, and everything has a shiny white painted surface. None of the cockpits I have flown so far give me a "cartoon" feel... The best part about the clipper isn't even the dash, space, or polished look... its the GIANT 100% unobstructed piece of glass that spans your vision from a full left to full right head turn. Can't beat that.

for me it is probably the clipper of the ones i have seen so far (not seen vulture, FDL or Dropship)

but they all have their place. I have been having a play in my smaller ships lately and in VR I just love the different feel you get in the ships.

going from my asp to my clipper, and then into my eagle initially made me feel a little clostrophobic, which is something only VR can do.... great stuff.

That being said...............

one of my pet hates of the cockpits is the reused textures in all the Lakon ships. I know they are from the same company so a "theme" is to be expected but the main dashboard is identical on the Asp to the other ships.

I would have to double check but I think even the wear marks are the same :/ I hope they get a face lift to set them apart a little in the fullness of time. (it has happened before, the Eagle got a few improvements)

The Asp is not even a Lakon ship originally (though I guess its not out of the question to think they got a refit) but still....... my Nissan 350Z looks different inside than a qashqai.

I've tried quite a few of the but not all. The Asp would be my obvious choice because of the bubble cockpit .... BUT .. I have this sweet spot for the Sidewinder that I can't shake. I love that ship and I love the cockpit in the Rift. The book and the flask ... The tape holding down the cable. The shabby feel of the interior ... The sight of the guns riding up in front of you.

It's a joy to fly in the Rift as well.

Time for me to dust off the Sidewinder. I am also going to rebuy the Asp today and do some deep space exploring. Thanks for the info.

I voted for the cobra, not cos it's the best but cos it's amazing and needs at least one vote. Best so far is either Asp or Eagle for me. Am working on getting the clipper

Lakon 9 and Python take my vote for best.

Clipper and Anaconda have too much space wastage behind the pilot's chair.

I've now flown every-ship under VR, thanks to the beta special of 100cr a ship.

The Sidewinder is great, with wonderful details... even a book on the shelf.

In my opinion, the Asp has the most "hoe-lee sheeeet" feel in VR... as you can see everywhere.
It doesn't feel protected, like a single pebble will smash the canopy. Sure lucky material science in the 34th century is better than today.
It is the explorer!

The Anaconda bridge is fantastic, with the orange bubble mat. It has a very UK design feel to it. Design cues from the London Tube. You really want to walk around.

The Cobra is cozy. Enough room for a duffel bag on the rear shelf.

The Python feeling the most like a deep space cruiser.
The felt covered center with the coffee holders (if you are wondering what the "push to open" panel is?) and the 80s CD player to the left is fantastic.

The Clipper is nice - but I agree with other posters, a bit cartoony. Nice floor paneling tho'. I was hoping for a Mercedes Benz interior.

The Orca, Hauler, Adder are all a bit plain. Like a Ford.

The Eagle, FDL and the Vulture are good, but nothing special.

The Viper looks like they hosed the last owner out of the cockpit... bit on the "used" side.

The Lakon cockpits are similar design, but Asp is the winner, unless you like the Battle Cow T9 (freaking mountain).

The cockpits need more life however - screens should update, lights change. Steam billow from exposed pipes.
They are a bit static.
