I only ever record stuff deliberately, perhaps I should enable the 5 minute rolling bit...
I routinely record everything, even in Solo, then purge the Shadowplay folder when it gets full. The hardware is built in and storage is cheap, why not use it? Imagine being the first person to see something new -- like hyperdiction -- and not having evidence?
(I was informed that there are Mobias 'griefers' who will shoot other players in the hope that they retaliate as they record everything...)
I've not seen it personally but I've seen it referenced elsewhere and it wouldn't surprise me. Seems to be a potential self-pwn if your target is also recording and you cop a ban for it, but I guess it takes all sorts. Maybe they get enough of a lazy lob out of what they might do to a random player unaware of the rules that it offsets their own potentially lost time and effort. ¯\

As for the main subject, I must confess a little disappointment at just how much the
Odyssey gunplay footage we've seen so far looks like a generic futuristic FPS. But as others have said, if you're trying to draw in a potentially new audience who might be attracted to that sort of thing and you only have a few seconds then that's what you have to put in the promos.
Hopefully the end product will offer gameplay choices of which some are a little more strategic and less frenetic than what we've seen already. Of course the whole thing could be a massive oversell, like the space combat depicted in the original launch trailer much of which is impossible to replicate in game.
We just have to trust FD. And to be fair, much as I have criticised some of
ED's design in the past, the promotional stuff for
Odyssey has worked. If I didn't already have LEPs on my main and primary alt accounts I would have pre-ordered alpha access already. So they're doing something right.
