The Book of Commander Sisko (probably not coming soon to Elite Dangerous Odyssey)

"Out there" meaning Beagle Point? I've been all over the bubble for years, only ever encountered one other person and he was returning from the black at the time and I encountered him at Farseer.
I'm actually just back from Beagle Point a week ago with my Alt Cmdr..... have several 'friended' Mobius members and they are all logging in on a regular basis... even Commander Mobius himself (main man and 'founder' of the various Mobius groupings). o7

I can't wait to have the Book of Kumo, and the comedy japes of running a fast food joint in the 3300s like Pop from the League of Gentlemen...

I only ever record stuff deliberately, perhaps I should enable the 5 minute rolling bit...
I routinely record everything, even in Solo, then purge the Shadowplay folder when it gets full. The hardware is built in and storage is cheap, why not use it? Imagine being the first person to see something new -- like hyperdiction -- and not having evidence?

(I was informed that there are Mobias 'griefers' who will shoot other players in the hope that they retaliate as they record everything...)
I've not seen it personally but I've seen it referenced elsewhere and it wouldn't surprise me. Seems to be a potential self-pwn if your target is also recording and you cop a ban for it, but I guess it takes all sorts. Maybe they get enough of a lazy lob out of what they might do to a random player unaware of the rules that it offsets their own potentially lost time and effort. ¯\(ツ)

As for the main subject, I must confess a little disappointment at just how much the Odyssey gunplay footage we've seen so far looks like a generic futuristic FPS. But as others have said, if you're trying to draw in a potentially new audience who might be attracted to that sort of thing and you only have a few seconds then that's what you have to put in the promos.

Hopefully the end product will offer gameplay choices of which some are a little more strategic and less frenetic than what we've seen already. Of course the whole thing could be a massive oversell, like the space combat depicted in the original launch trailer much of which is impossible to replicate in game.

We just have to trust FD. And to be fair, much as I have criticised some of ED's design in the past, the promotional stuff for Odyssey has worked. If I didn't already have LEPs on my main and primary alt accounts I would have pre-ordered alpha access already. So they're doing something right.

... and signed depositions from 92 independent witnesses, security footage from at least 18 sources and a pinky promise to not tell lies...

Shame your were silly enough to use carebears as an insult, isn't it?
(I had to be careful there not to be insulting as I recall a very 'carebear' moment when someone got mortally insulted because of my use of the term 'braveheart' :ROFLMAO:)
I wasn't offended by the use of the term braveheart, I genuinely thought it was a jovial reference to me being from very distinctly from "jocklandshire" - I mean "le Chardon" is reference to a reference to thistle, which is chardon in French, so my CMDR is literally "Jay the Thistle", hence thinking comments aimed at a parenthesised braveheart were pointed at me. As such I responded to what you were saying in that post, not being aware that what was said was in response to someone else. If I remember correctly you used the term to deride a keyboard warrior rather than as a friendly "ribbing" of this Scottish imperial renegade?

As for me using carebear, for a TL;DR I needed a punchy sound bite, and "carebears need spaceship dashcams" was a lot punchier than "CMDR's who prefer to play in a PVE open group with a wider player base than typically afforded to them by PG's or full on isolation of Solo need spaceship dashcams".

No. The Sisko is of peace. The Sisko is of Bajor.
I'm glad the Sisko is pinned to Bajor, because as well as the other sci-fi franchises I listed as already being "taken" by other forumites, I think @Ziljan might object to the Sisko taking dibbs on 'Galactica given he used to use Gaius Baltair as his avatar, before Holome was added, allowed him make his current avatar which is a holome based on the aforementioned 'Galactica character.

My personal experience from the past few years is it's about the same as solo, probably unless you're in a guild or clan or something like that. Nothing against Mobius, but the numbers they boast don't really represent what you encounter in the game. The odds of a lone player finding a wingmate just by being in any particular high population system are pretty slim. Never encountered anyone mining, bounty hunting or even at Founders.

Maybe I'll run into you some time then. o7
