Trying again before logging off in a huff, two times in succession my ship decided to faceplant into a nearby hill and kill itself. Has anyone else experienced this? The only thing I can think of that I've altered is recalling it slightly earlier whilst I hoon it towards 4km from Cooper Arena.
Yes, it happened to me loads of times at the weekend ... right up until I wanted it to happen, then nothing but controlled, graceful landings ... bloody typical!

Had some RL stuff going on over the last week or so, but managed to jump in the cockpit today for a couple of hours and try for a decent time in Regulation. Managed two representative and reasonably competitive runs (nowhere near the Hamilton/Verstappen levels of certain CMDRs though ;) ) which I'll possibly submit later this week, but I know I can go quicker. Yes, 2 out of 3 runs in regulation have ended like that. The game doesn't like it when we recall while moving, it's only happend to me in the Cobra though, the Orca is fine with it.
I stop before recalling now in the Cobra. 🤷‍♀️

I took a short break from racing today to practice bouncing around Cooper; and thanks to @Alec Turner and @Fish172 something clicked and I achieved SPEEEEED! A long way still to go with this but I got so carried away I actually overshot Cooper and had to turn round and come back! I'll be posting a new best time of less than 38 minutes in the Cobra later tonight, but first this:

Intent to overheat.
Imperial Courier Me Whippet's on Fire!
SRV A Whippet Costs 'Ow Much???

I have now mounted a vigorous assault on the bottom of the Unlimited leader board, so entries in both sections have been submitted. I did nearly get a better run in the Cobra, but it seems I need more practice at landing with 5% hull. Cobra went BOOM :(

My best speed in Young Whippetsnapper:

Thank you, but I only gave encouragement. I am still just starting to get to grips myself, Alec deserves the praise. Stoked that you got it though well done.

Two sections of travel video from today with accompanying music for those that enjoy this kind of thing.
3m45s: Show-off! :)
Pretty fun, right? SRV flyving lets you get into a great relaxing flow state.
I'm not quite at that stage, but it IS addicting, isn't it?

So today I flew into the cliffs at 500+ m/s trying to target the tourist beacon, kept crashing out of orbital glide at Bridger, but then finally broke 35 minutes in the iCourier! Now to see if I can do that in the Cobra tomorrow, before it catches this suicidal thing that you guys have got.

I suffered a scarlet krait error on my way back to London Relay last night at the end of a good-ish run. I'll run it again so probably won't submit that one.

But a question to our race marshals. If we error out of the game during a run, can the time taken to recover from the error be discounted from the run? I lost exactly 2 minutes from the point of my FSD failing to jump me to the next system, Scarlet Krait back to main menu, then back into the game and recharge FSD. All on video for transparency.

Or are game errors just to be accepted as an unavoidable obstacle and post of the overall time?

I was running in open last night and got a couple of perceptibly longer witch space segments just before the error so I might just switch to solo to avoid the issue. 😕

Not being an expert but I would in my opinion say no. They are just things that happen. Just my thoughts on it. I may be wrong however, this would not be unusual. I would honestly have thought it would ruin any sensible time you had anyway.

To some extent I guess that's up to the individual race marshal but generally I'd say that unless there are extenuating circumstances (like it someone's only chance to get a time on the leaderboard and they're absolutely heartbroken and they offer a REALLY good bribe) then I think the time (including the reboot/restart) would have to stand and you just have to accept it (and try again).

The problem is, if someone else ends up losing out by a few seconds then it all gets a bit unpleasant as the race marshal then becomes directly responsible for the allocated time and it's not really fair to put that responsibility on them.

Oh, so bribery is a legitimate race tactic? 😂

I must declare, for independence and transparency that I'm currently subscribed to Brother Sabathius on twitch... 😬

But realistically I'm going to rerun and refine my time some more.
