The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series

The "6800 series" likely means you have a 6850 or 6870 version card. Both are a bit slower than the 7850 card recommended, and they only have 1GB of GPU ram. People are running Planet Coaster with slower graphics cards, so as long as you keep your park smaller than you may be able to enjoy it.

You CPU is also just a weeee bit slower than the FX 4300 (link to basic compare site) that is recommended as the minimum.

I believe there is the chance to upgrade both of them, but that would take around $175 for the fastest AMD AM3+ processor to install into your current motherboard, and a new graphics card could be $200 to $400 for a great performing one. We'd need to know more about your computer, and you'd need to know someone (maybe yourself) who wants to install the parts.

Maybe preorder the game for the cheaper price now before the price goes up later. Let the alpha testing people and Frontier work out all the bugs. Then try the released game on your current computer when all the features and optimizations are implemented. Then you can make the best informed decision. Computer parts will likely be cheaper in 6 months, graphics cards will be better.

Thank you very much.
But, would it be possible to run it with some really low graphics?

There are people running it on laptops with the integrated Intel graphics. Your card is better than the Intel graphics acceleration, and your CPU is also better than a lot of laptops. You are just barely below the minimum requirements, so if you want to play it give it a go and report back your experience. I think you'll have OK frames per second until you get to 1000 guests or heavily heavily theme your buildings (like Silvarret does on his Youtube channel -- now that is some inspiration!), after that I'm guessing you'll drop down to the teens in FPS (not as smooth of gameplay).

Concentrate on being creative, planning your park, and making something you'd want to go to in real life, and I'm guessing you'll have fun.

Hello,

Thank you again.

So, if I want to add a lot of details in my park (because, for me, the theme and the details are really important in a theme park, and that's why I would like to have the game too), I guess that I have to buy a new graphics card and a new CPU, isn't it?
Because, I don't really want to spend a lot of money in new things like that just to run PC...

And, you said "after that I'm guessing you'll drop down to the teens in FPS". Didn't you wanted to say "to the tens in FPS"? Or is that an expression?

Im running it smoothly on an FX8350 CPU and a AMD Radeon R9 290. If you can get a CPU in this Range, and at the end of June, there will come the RX480 Graphics Card from AMD wich is as Powerful as the R9 390 and a little above, it will cost around 250 Dollars for the 8GB Version. I think, with these 2 Upgrades (both will work on your mainboard) you will run Planet Coaster just Fine.

Ahh, "teens of FPS" I meant to say you'll drop below 20FPS.

It sounds like you want to play it. If the Alpha access isn't too expensive for you, try the game out on your computer as is. People reported that Alpha 2 ran quicker than Alpha 1, so there is a chance that Alpha 3 has further improvements. Otherwise at least buy the preorder while it is still at the discounted price, and earmark the savings(vs buying the alpha) to go to better computer parts in the future.

Yes, I really want to play it.
I think I will, in first, buy the game with the Alpha access, and if my computer can't run it, I would buy a new processor, and, then, if it doesn't work fine, i would buy a new graphics card.
But, I have a question, if you buy the game but your computer can't run it, do they refund you?
Thank you.

Regarding upgrading the CPU or GPU first, I haven't read any discussion about which provides the greatest benefit for your upgrade dollar. The GPU is the easiest and quickest to swap. Maybe someone else reading this has experience with this question?

Regarding whether Planet Coaster Customer Service would refund your money if your system won't run it fast enough. I'm thinking yes. At least if I was them, I would, because I'd want you to buy it again later when your situation is better.

I prefer buying the game before other things to be sure.
Thank you very much.

After reading the recommended specs for the Alpha of this game, I was a bit iffy about spending $75 just to have an uplayable game.
But I took the risk because why not have a mini mid-life crisis at the age of 18? [big grin]

Anyways, I'm extremely glad to say it works. It's not perfectly smooth, but it's definitely playable on medium-low settings. Enough blabbing on, here's my specs!

Alienware Alpha Gaming PC
Intel i3 4130T @ 2.9Ghz
8GB DDRL RAM
GTX 860M 2GB (Modified version for the Alienware Alpha ~ About the same performance as a GTX 750ti)
500GB HDD (You probably don't care about that but oh well)
Windows 10

Hope this helps anyone with an Alienware Alpha or a Steam Machine or anyone with similar specs! :)
-Once my park gets filled, with about 3,000 guests, the game does start to stutter a little and fps drops to about 25-30 but it's still playable!

Hey everyone !

I know i can run it, but i would like to know how, even with a big park with tons of lights and stuffs :

AMD FX-6300 6 cores 3.5 GHz
RAM : 8Go
R9 270X 2Go.
Windows 7 64bits.

Thank you guys !

WIll I be able to run this game.
PC is 6 yrs old but not going to run out and buy new system for one game as RCT world works and I know this game is awesome but RCT is not bad and its still improving. Besides have XBOX one.

I have intel (R) core TM i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHZ
12 GB RAM
windows 10 64 bit edition
ATI R9 270X 2GB Graphics Card
I saw pics and I really didn't see huge diff between low and high settings, I just want to be able to play the game.

Your processor is slightly below the minimum specs of Planet Coaster, but that being said you should be able to play Planet Coaster at least on low settings. I have an Intel i7 940 @ 2.93 GHz and can play Planet Coaster reasonably smooth on medium settings.

Your Intel i7 920 is running at 2.67 GHz which is a bit lower than the minimum specs Intel i5 2300 which is running at 2.80 GHz (and uses newer technology). Therefore I cannot give you a 100% guarantee that you can play Planet Coaster, but I do think your computer actually can run the game on low settings. If not, you can contact Frontier Support and ask for a refund.

So, I'm wondering if I'll be able to play this game, but I'm pretty sure the answer will be no which is going to be a bummer (and I'll just have to keep playing old school RCT).

AMD A8-7410 APU 2.20 GHz <---- i think you meant it like this
AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
8GB Ram
Windows 10
2.2 or even 2.5 GHz is under the requirements and I think you would probably have a pretty low frame rate, even if it ran on the lowest settings. But I could be wrong. Is that a laptop your using?

Alright I know my laptop is weak and probably won't be able to run the game, but its worth a try

Windows 10
Intel Celeron n2830 ~2.2GHz
4GB (I know I need 8GB but can upgrade this easily though so its a moot point)
DirectX 11.2
Intel HD Graphics

I do see a lot of things about how the game hasn't gone through optimization yet, so is there still hope for me, or should I start budgeting for a new computer? I unfortunately run a Toshiba Satellite c55-b which has worked fine for me so far but I'm extremely limited on what I'm able to upgrade [sad].

I don't mind running the game in low settings or even a low framerate, as long as it's playable.

Your processor is below the minimum specs required to play Planet Coaster, and so is the graphics chip. It might run Planet Coaster, but it would have issues doing so, such as a low frame rate, and it is not likely you will be able to play with large parks filled with a lot of rides and scenery.

With those specs, you are far below the minimum specs required to play Planet Coaster. Not only the RAM is not enough, also the processor and graphics chip are below minimum specs that are required. The Intel HD graphics is an integrated graphics chip, but you'll need a dedicated graphics card.

With the specs you have listed, it is unlikely that you are able to play Planet Coaster, and in case it does run the game, you will have frame rates that are so low that it will be hard to do anything in the game.

How would this hold up for PC?

AMD A8-6410 Quad Core (2GHz, 4MB L2 Cache, AMD Turbo Up To 2.4GHz)
RAM 16GB (DDR3 1600MHz)
Hard Drive 1000GB
AMD Radeon R5 M230 with 2GB RAM

I was afraid of that, but good to know, thank you!

I should probably start looking for new computer in that case. The current system requirements are subject to change but is that about what kind of specs I should aim for? Or are the requirements expected to raise/lower?
